History shows us that God has plans for us, we who are His creation. We can see parts of His plans which already happened by examining the records of history as we know it – and by reading the record of His Words to us in the Bible.
Through recorded history, and through the Bible records, we can clearly see what has happened in the past – and from those past events… know what God had planned to accomplish.
God is wise and He plans ahead. Before the creation of this world, God had a plan. By studying the Bible we can see how the events of history are laid out, forming a “timeline”.
Through that “timeline” of actual history that is plain for us all to see, we can understand:
- what God has done,
- what He has caused to happen,
- what He will do in the future, and
- why He is carrying-out this plan of His.
Much of it is explained in the Scriptures.
There is no need to conjecture or guess about what is factually-based in history (although some will). The records left by real people in ancient times, be it secular or biblical, give us reliable evidence of what actually occurred.
If we put all these actual happenings into a timeline, we see some interesting insights. What happened in times past, as recorded in archeological finds, fits together with what God’s prophets of old recorded in the books of the Bible.
Christians believe that the Bible was put together by God – in order to show us His plan. The historicity of recorded events confirms the events of the Bible. We can examine both (confirmed history & the Bible) and see the hands of God moving “behind the scenes” to accomplish His plan of the ages. The God of the Ages has accomplished His plans throughout history, He is continuing to accomplish His plans now, and He will cause His plans for the future to happen. Just as we now see the past unfolded through historical records, we will someday see the future events of God’s plan unfold.
