The Roman Road

October 4, 2016 by Keith Swift Leave a Comment

The Roman Road to Salvation is simply a compilation of verses in the book of Romans that clearly explains the message of salvation in Christ.

Bible verses throughout the book of Romans present the good news of Jesus Christ: why we need Jesus’ forgiveness, what’s wrong with “sin”, why does God care, what do I have to do to be “saved”, does God hear me, what do I do after I accept Christ?

The Bible is God’s Word to us.  Throughout the Bible God clearly shows us why we need forgiveness, why we need to follow Christ.  Here, verses (along with other supportive passages) give us answers to basic questions – pointing us towards that very personal choice offered to us only once (only in this lifetime given to us by God) …to follow Jesus.

…it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment

– Hebrews 9:27

1. I consider myself a ‘good person’.  Won’t that be enough?
Answer: It will be a hell of a mistake to think that way. God is holy.  We are not.

Romans 3:23   – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  -NKJVersion
Romans 3:10   – As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;  -NKJVersion
Romans 5:12   – Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned–   -NKJVersion

1 John 1:5    5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

James 2:10    10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

FOR MORE: Me, When I Die…still in sin not forgiven by Christ

2. Is sin really THAT big of a deal?  If it is, then… what HOPE is there?
Answer:
Sin, without Christ – puts us under a sentence of guilty – by God.

Romans 6:23   – For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  -NKJVersion

Genesis 3 – [The Fall of Man]

FOR MORE: Legally Damned – Legally Forgiven

3. After what I’ve done to grieve God… HOW could He willingly die in my place?
Answer:
It’s all about His great love.

Romans 5:8   – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.   -NKJVersion

John 3:16   16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:17-18  [Version: The Message (MSG)]    16-18 “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Luke 23:34   34 But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

4. How can I be saved?
Answer:
Repent and call on Jesus.  Jesus claimed to be the ONLY way to the Father.  There is no other way.  We must bow the knee to Him.   See: Thief On The Cross [Luke 23:39-43]  in the article: That Moment In Time

Romans 10:9-10 NKJV  – …if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation   -NKJVersion

Acts 4:12   And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6   Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Ephesians 2:8,9   8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

Matthew 4:17   17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

2 Corinthians 7:10   10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.

John 16:7-8   7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [a]Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;

5. Did God HEAR me? Did He accept me?
Answer:
God promises to hear us when we call on Him.  He promises to save all who come to Him in repentance.

Romans 10:13 NKJV  – For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”   -NKJVersion

John 1:12   12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

6. What do I do now?
Answer:
If you receive Christ  as Lord and Savior, you instantly are changed into a brand new creation!  Life begins new.  Start following Christ: seek Him, read the Bible in order to gain more faith, seel to learn the Christian walk.  Start fellowshipping with other Christians.

Romans 10:17 NKJV  – So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  -NKJVersion

Hebrews 11:6   And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Luke 10:27   And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
Colossians 3:16   Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

No Faith In Heaven

I think faith will not be necessary in heaven. ¨…Now we see in a glass darkly…¨ (1 Corinthians 13:12)  but not later, when we will then be able to see ¨face to face¨.    Scripture says that ¨now¨these three abide (faith, hope, love…1 Corinthians 13:13), but it implies in the context that later (being in […]

One of the main things that describes being in heaven is JOY. The word “joy” has a much deeper meaning than just happiness. To be happy can change so quickly. It can come and go in a moment. But joy is different. It is a deep seated contentment. Everything is right! No sorrow or grief. […]

About Biblical Inerrancy

Explaining the Basic Christian Experience [Part Two]

We are given new life in Christ when we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Oh the wonder of passing from being “God-damned” to being “marvelously saved by Jesus”. We then begin growing into our natural new life in Christ. Oh how marvelous this journey! Ephesians chapter 1 lists “the natural order of things” in our spiritual dimension.

He will go before me

What path are you on? (1) “…walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example]” or (2) “And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].”

Thief On The Cross

Thief On The Cross. Nothing religious was done by the thief. He merely (1) confessed his sinfulness, and (2) acknowledged Jesus as “the Christ”.

Every believer’s new life in Christ [Part One]

Because God is extreme to the nth degree – God requires an extreme type of relationship from us. Once we get born again, we will continue growing deeply, naturally, into further maturity in Christ. The wonder of passing from being “God-damned” to being “marvelously saved by Jesus”. Oh how marvelous this journey!
