Fellowship with Darkness
It’s a legit question. Jesus spoke of it. Are you in fellowship with Darkness? Speaking to professing believers, Paul and John said this:

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth;
2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
1 John 2:9
The one who says he is in the Light [in consistent fellowship with Christ] and yet habitually hates (works against) his brother [in Christ] is in the darkness until now.
The call to repentance and His Salvation – is a call to “practice the truth” 1 John 1:6, not darkness. We are, of course, not saved by our practice of the truth. Definitely not.
But, if that walk is absent, well then, what’s with that? It reveals there was no salvation experience in the first place. Very revealing – our walk.
1 John 1:8
If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude ourselves and the truth is not in us. [His word does not live in our hearts.]
Whitewashed tombs
You lookin’ good? Jesus referred to a soul that can appear to be a good looking sepulchur. But “Woe to you”, Jesus said, because inside it’s full of dead men’s bones – ugly as sin, unClean inside.

Some who are born again will strive to be more righteous. They will be more rewarded for it, (Revelation 22: verse 12) but even the most miserably failing follower will still enter the gates of heaven, “yet so as by fire”. It’s as if his clothes were still a’smokin’ when he went through the gates – ’cause all his works were burned up. That’s because God is the one that saves us, not us. We can do nothing to merit God’s salvation.
