Introduction: If you are not a follower of Jesus – then, knowing who to avoid is an important warning. If you are a follower of Jesus – then, knowing who to avoid is an important warning. Or do you want to go down a dark snake hole?
There are so many ways to get lost in false teachings, erroneous thought – which leads us away from the Truth – and into apostasy. God Himself is the One that establishes what is “true” and what is “false”, not today’s false teachers. Perilous times are here. We need to be wise in a very unwise world during these End Times.
This list of false teachers, false teachings, and apostate groups is not a thorough list, but this article gives us a sense of what is out there in these end times – and how extremely important it is to be “Berean“, search the Scriptures, and stay faithful to what has been revealed in the Bible.

We must first determine
if a group is cultic
by examining its theology,
and then
we can examine its behavior
to see how its beliefs ”cash out” in practical life.

*2. False Teaching… Five-Fold Ministry… restoring the so-called “five-fold” ministry of Ephesians 4:11-12
The Faulty Foundation of the Five-Fold Ministry by Robert M. Bowman
*From “the neo-Pentecostal “Restoration” movement and its offshoot, “kingdom now” teaching….”
The New Testament is particularly clear about the temporary role of the apostles, since they were chosen to give eyewitness testimony of the risen Christ (Acts 1:21-26; 5:32; Luke 1:1-4; 1 Cor. 9:1).
-
- Paul indicated that he was the last person to see the risen Christ and receive an apostolic commission (1 Cor. 15:8).
- 1 Cor. 15:8 8 and last of all, as to one untimely (prematurely, traumatically) born, He appeared to me also. [a Paul’s life-changing encounter with the resurrected Christ occurred on the road to Damascus (Acts 9).]
- The epistles of 2 Peter and Jude, among the very last New Testament writings to be penned, exhort the readers to avoid false doctrines by recalling the teachings of the apostles (2 Pet. 1:12-15; 2:1; 3:2, 14-16; Jude 3-4, 17). Peter and Jude did not say, “Listen to the apostles living today,” but instead urged believers to “remember what the apostles said.”
- I am not arguing that only the Twelve and Paul were apostles. Barnabas (Acts 14:14), Silas (1 Thess. 2:6; cf. 1:1), and Andronicus and Junia (Rom. 16:7) all were apostles of Christ, and thus were no doubt among the more than 500 witnesses to the Resurrection (1 Cor. 15:6).
- However, none of these persons was chosen as a successor to an earlier apostle (Matthias was Judas’s replacement, not his successor, since Judas had forsaken his apostleship, Acts 1:21-26).
- Paul indicated that he was the last person to see the risen Christ and receive an apostolic commission (1 Cor. 15:8).
*3. False Teaching… Shinchonji (SCJ) — or the “New Heaven and New Earth” church (NHNE) — whose founder, Man-Hee Lee, is referred to as God’s “advocate”. -Source: apologeticsindex.org. Also see: Wikkipedia. Exported from South Korea as Parachristo. “Organisers insist Parachristo exists solely to help ‘understand the Bible more deeply’ ”. Not so. Man-Hee Lee is promoted as God’s “promised pastor” who holds the key to avoid impending judgement. Followers in fact believe that Lee Man-hee is the second coming of Jesus Christ. That would make him an Antichrist – warned against in Scripture.

*5. False Teaching… Globalism
“The World Christian Movement” by Al Dager of Media Spotlight
This is a major study on the Global Evangelization Movement showing how many of the Revival and Missionary organisations are networking to “win the world for Christ”. Al Dager asks whether “evangelization” is the same thing as biblical evangelism, and he explores the links between all these organisations, reveals what “identificational repentance” is, The Abrahamic Covenant, “The idea that Abraham and Israel failed to fulfill the Great Commission…”, the unbiblical need for “people groups” to come to salvation, per Donald McGavran. (Alan Dager says, “Group mind”? “Chain reaction”? This is what McGavran calls a “People Movement.” How does this equate to regeneration of the the spirit and true conversion to Jesus Christ?”).
Per Alan Dager, “Ralph Winter implies that world evangelization is a “secret mission” of the Church that we have missed from the beginning because we never understood it. Such a statement further proves that evangelization is not the same as evangelism, because evangelism has never been a ‘secret mission’.” And Helen Barrett Montgomery “chastised the Church for failing to bring about what she considered total evangelization.” “They even go so far as to subordinate the New Covenant in Christ’s blood to their concept of the Abrahamic covenant.”
These next two articles are actually two sections from the “Doctrine of Demons” series by Tricia Tillin, also found elsewhere on this site. [- Source: bereanresearch.org]:
“The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a dominionist movement which asserts that God is restoring the lost offices of church governance, namely the offices of Prophet and Apostle.”
Their leaders “claim that these prophets and apostles alone have the power and authority to execute God’s plans and purposes on earth. They believe they are laying the foundation for a global church, governed by them.”
“They place a greater emphasis on dreams, visions and extra-biblical revelation than they do on the Bible, claiming that their revealed teachings and reported experiences (e.g. trips to heaven, face-to-face conversations with Jesus, visits by angels) can not be proven by the ‘old’ Scripture.” (Source)
“NAR’s extensive mission outreach throughout the globe has caused the astonishing church growth that’s happening in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.”
“The movement, which is the brainchild of C. Peter Wagner, incorporates many of the unbiblical teachings and practices of Kingdom Now theology and of the controversial renewal and revival movements.” (Source)
…NAR, the New Apostolic Reformation. … It is like Grape Nuts – it’s not grapes and it’s not nuts. It’s like Christian Science – it’s not Christian and it’s not scientific.
Well, the New Apostolic Reformation isn’t new, it isn’t apostolic, and it isn’t a reformation. But it is a rapidly expanding movement being generated by some of the same old troubling false teachers and false leaders that have been around in Charismania for decades, always dishonoring the Holy Spirit, always dishonoring the Scripture, always claiming miracle signs, wonders, visions, dreams. ~ Quote from John MacArthur

Tricia Tillin of Banner Ministries says: “But the keys of David belong to DAVID only. The prophetic “David” is the only One who has come in the line of David, as the heir to David’s throne – Jesus the Saviour! In the book of Revelation we see exactly who owns the keys of David. It is not gatekeepers in the Church, but Jesus the Lord:

KEEPERS OF THE KEYS: The Gates and Gatekeepers of the New Order By Tricia Tillin of Banner Ministries. Quote of Tricia Tillin of Banner Ministries writting against these false teachings:
Contrary to these “Gatekeeper” false teachings, “Jesus in fact gave not only Peter but ALL the disciples the keys of the kingdom, that is, the authority to bind and loose”:
Matt 18:1-18 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus…, (verse 18) Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

“The Doctrine of Demons” Contents Page and Download Access
Quote of Tricia Tillin of Banner Ministries writting against these false teachings:
“There is also a well-established mythology about spiritual “portals” guarded by demons, monsters or gods through which aspirants travel to higher spiritual levels.
The mythological “keeper of the treasure” or Guardian is in fact preserving the Hidden Wisdom of the ancients from the prying eyes of ordinary folks and the guardian at the gate often requires seekers to undergo some kind of purification, test or spiritual strategy to prove his or her readiness for the journey beyond.
All of this is debunked in the bible as satanic delusions, and by contrast the truths and treasures of God are freely available to “whosoever will”. It is only the false church that hides spiritual “levels” and “anointings” and “revelations” behind veils and portals and sets Gatekeepers at the doors of their inner rooms. Jesus is not found in the “inner rooms” but openly and in public; he never spoke in secret but openly to all. (John 18:20)”
– John 18:20
20 Jesus answered him,
“I have spoken openly to the world.
I always taught in a synagogue
and in the temple [area],
where all the Jews habitually congregate;
and I said nothing in secret.
“Why would any believer pursue the presence of God when God dwells within them? (1 Cor 3:16) It’s likely that Feucht has been influenced by his “friend and hero” – Mike Bickle (false teacher and founder of International House of Prayer – IHOP)
What made Bickle start his International House of Prayer? The same thing that started most cults – “God told me.” In this article, Bob DeWaay writes: “Bickle’s movement is based on allegorized scripture, deeper life pietism, and mysticism, representing a slightly modified version of the heretical Latter Rain movement of the 1940s. Bickle claims that he began his ministry through the hearing of an audible voice of God in 1983 that told him to start 24-hour prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.“
Bickle is a proponent of the global prayer and worship movement, and twists Amos 9:11 & Acts 15:16 to fit his narrative:
“We affirm that the Holy Spirit is orchestrating a global worship and prayer movement that will operate in great authority (Mt. 21:13; Lk. 18:7–8; Rev. 5:8, 8:3–5, 22:17; cf. Isa. 62:6–7; Joel 2:12–17, 32). This prayer movement will operate in the spirit of the tabernacle of David. We deny that the restoration of the tabernacle of David is the same as the end-time prayer movement.” – IHOP Press Center
So Bickle denies a literal fulfillment, but attributes significance to a spiritual interpretation – one the bible failed to mention. From the same IHOP press release:
“This restoration will, of course, include David’s heart for worship and prayer. Though Amos 9:11 is not prophesying primarily about 24/7 intercessory worship, this kind of worship-based prayer will be a foundational reality in the release of Jesus’ worldwide rule over the nations.
The prophetic word given to Mike Bickle in May 1983 was that “God would release 24-hour-a-day prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David;” in other words, it would involve prophetic singers and musicians. The practice of worship and intercession is not, in itself, the actual restoration of David’s tabernacle.”
What Bickle and Feucht are promoting, is known as “Davidic” warfare, or worship.
(Like the New Apostolic Reformation, “Davidic” worship can be traced back to the Latter Rain movement).

Read this by the Gospel Coalition: Bethel, Jesus, and Dove Dung; |
- “The authors back up their claims by citing alleged new “revelations” from God that align with the spiritual claims of the New Age movement. For one author: “Now we are beginning to hear more and more revelation that is in line with what New Agers have been saying all along” (p. 15). For another: “The way that God moves in power looks a lot like the New Age” (p. 44).”
- “In fact, one author goes so far as to declare that those Christians who oppose this New-Age-like view of God’s supernatural activity are following “false doctrines”, and are therefore even worse than the non-Christian New Age “false religionists operating out of evil power sources” (p. 48). In other words (the author is saying), while it’s dangerous to be a demonic New-Ager, it’s even worse to be one of those reactionary Christians who oppose the author’s own New-Age quantum-mystical doctrines about the Spirit! According to the book, New Age quantum mysticism (even in its demonic manifestations) is closer to God’s truth than traditional biblical Christianity.”

“…the charismata do not so much accredit the Gospel as they express and concretize the Gospel. Just as sound and inspired preaching applies, but does not change, the all-sufficient Scripture, so true gifts of prophecy, knowledge or wisdom reveal human needs, directing them to God’s truth within the eternally-sealed limits of the biblical canon.
