Jackson Browne – “It’s later than it seems”

Jackson Browne.  What a musician!  He delved deep with his 1978 song, “Doctor My Eyes” (YouTube).  Read the lyrics here.

With “The Barricades Of Heaven” song, Browne seems to acknowledge that he himself could not get past all the barriers that keep us from ever reaching Heaven.  He himself was on the outside, the outskirts – “the barricades of Heaven where I’m from”.

Better bring your own redemption when you come

It actually is not possible to “bring your own redemption” to the Meetup down the road, per the Bible.  All our redemption schemes are fails.  Only Jesus brings true redemption.  We are redeemed through Jesus – bought with a price.

Why only Jesus?  Because Jesus was the God of Heaven, and He came down to earth to bring us redemption.  A much better line would be to say,

“Better bring Christ’s redemption with you when you come”.

Got that feeling these days?  “It’s later than it seems.”

Better be ready.  Jesus said “the end” is near.
