Misrepresenting God
Has your “prophet of God” failed in his/her prediction? Has your local pew sitter (or you?) given a “word of faith” or “word from the Lord” — that was actually simply their own word?
What do you do when that happens?
There is a reason prophecies in the Bible have a perfect track record. God declared a curse upon any who was wrong in what they spoke as if from God (a prophet or anyone speaking for God).
If a man or woman said “these are words of God” — but then merely spoke his/her own words, they were stoned to death. That kept the record perfect.
Prophetic Words of God Mistake?
When a prophet fails, as did Bethel staff prophet Kris Vallotton (and 100’s of others)
— God was not wrong.
There is absolutely no precedent in the Bible for “mistakes” by prophets of Jehovah God.
Does our omniscient Father God make false statements? Does God foresee the future or not? Is His vision foggy? Is He near sighted? Not a chance.
As Elijah said, Shout louder! Maybe “he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.” (Quite a sense of humor that man had!)
27 And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.” – 1 Kings 18:27
There are consequences
God never misspeaks. You think? Men and women, however, do err. And, in light of this, God has said there are consequences for misrepresenting His Words.
See: Calling out false teachers
Father God, Creator of all, Spirit Most Holy (three in One) — does not take lightly the misrepresentation of His Word. It is a most heinous of sins, to wrong God with wrong prophetic predictions and make God speak falsely, wrongly.
Indeed – has God spoken directly to you?
A prediction supposedly made by God, but wasn’t, is looked upon by God as most egregious. THAT act demanded the death penalty (in the Old Testament era).
20 But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name, a word which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, [c]that prophet shall die.’ – Verse 20 of Deuteronomy 18:15-22.
Not at all
Does God change His proclamations – from the OT to the NT (from Old Testament times to New Testament times)? Not at all. The Gospel of Christ Is Unchanging.
The unity between the Old and the New Testaments is clear. God choreographed the Old prophecies to seamlessly join with the New Testament. The New fulfilled the Old.
It is okay to be wrong?
When claiming to speak “God’s words”, it is never okay to be wrong. That is what the Old Testament declared. [See comments below about “I am against you”, God says.]
It is no laughing matter.
NAR folk negate those warnings. They cancelled the OT. NAR leaders claim new revelations — in order to have it their way. Supposedly a new insight was “revealed” in a new NAR prophecy recently. How convenient.
That NAR prophet reported that God had changed His Word with “the New Covenant” found in the book of Hebrews. The OT warning (a curse) where God said “I am against you” was voided by this new NAR revelation, says the NAR now.
Adherents to the NAR now say, basically:
It is okay to be wrong when thinking God has said something to you. Just say what you think. God is okay with that – even if it turns out you are wrong.
Is God okay with that?
…even when
it turns out
you were wrong?
Complete misinterpretation of the New Covenant
This new NAR revelation is a complete misinterpretation of The New Covenant which was revealed in the book of Hebrews. See these New Covenant passages.
See: | Hebrews 1:1-4 | Hebrews 10:19-25 | Hebrews 10:26-31 |
There is no indication of God cancelling His OT ban against speaking your own words as God’s words. How preposterous!
Like a petulant child
So, “No problem” – thought the NAR prophet: “I’ll just make up ‘a new revelation’. I’ll say “God has revealed this to me, and presto-change-o, we can have it our way after all.”
That is how simple it is for false prophets to authorize their errors. And these NAR type churches support them in their shameless mistaken effrontery before God.
The New Covenant
The truth is that the revealing of The New Covenant of Jesus was the unveiling to us of the mystery of salvation.
The great mystery of salvation has been revealed.
(Verses are all in one link:) Ephesians 1:9; Ephesians 3:3-4; Colossians 1:26; Ephesians 3:9-10; 1 Corinthians 2:7; 1 Timothy 3:16; Mark 4:11; Romans 11:25; Romans 16:25; 1 Corinthians 14:6; Ephesians 6:19; Colossians 2:2; Colossians 4:3-4; 1 Timothy 3:9
Also see: 1 Peter 1:10-12 and Matthew 13:17.
Fulfilling His Words
Jesus came to earth to fulfill the Old Testament predictions of the coming Messiah who would bring-in “a new and living way”. He did not revoke any of His words (as the NAR prophet tries to convince us). On the contrary, Jesus the Godman fulfilled His words:
“a new and living way
which He inaugurated for us
through the veil,
that is, His flesh”
– Hebrews 10:20 (verses 19-25)
With His temporary death on a cross, and the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb, the old Judaic system of animal sacrifices was replaced with what it had symbolized for thousands of years: the mystery of salvation was revealed in the risen Messiah, Jesus.
A final one time sacrifice – once for all time
Salvation then was revealed as being found in Jesus’ sacrifice — once for all time (Hebrews 9:verses 23-28).
___________
Jesus Christ fulfilled the Judaic sacrificial system, making of Himself the ultimate “once for all” sacrifice for all sin (Hebrews 9:verses 23-28).
It was the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, the baby born in a manger, of Mary, “fathered” by God the Holy Spirit – that was the culminating act of God to bring salvation to all who would believe and follow Him. Read Hebrews 9 and 1 Peter 1.

Getting things wrong
NAR prophets got it all wrong about Trump, saying he would win the elections. Well, he did not win. Oops. “God got it wrong!?”
It is a scary thought: the Bethel Leaders Network is very busy training thousands of false teachers all over the world. They train church leaders to negate OT warnings about false speaking. Sad but true: God is against them.
This is a very biblical response by BIOLA University grad, Holly Pivec:

“I am against you”, God says
This is the message from the Bible about false speaking. It is not our own condemnation. We should be against whatever God says He is against.
How can anything be more serious than a censure by God? When God is against you, you should tremble and correct your ways.
Whether you are in a suit, wearing a tee shirt and Levi’s, or some painted eastern fanatic with a wild beard – it’s all the same:
God has cursed ‘false speakers’.
The “I am against you” curse by God Himself cannot be undone, cannot be voided — just because NAR leaders want to say whatever they want to say.
This voiding is totally bogus. And God is against them for this.
We absolutely cannot put our own words on the same level as the Scriptures. We find that Mark 7:7 addresses these mistaken NAR prophet practitioners, and the “word of the Lord” pew sitters —
‘They worship Me in vain [their worship is meaningless and worthless, a pretense], Teaching the precepts of men as doctrines [giving their traditions equal weight with the Scriptures].’ – Mark 7:7
The New Covenant as revealed in Hebrews does not at all void Old Testament teachings. To the contrary: Jesus death and resurrection confirms all that the OT taught.
The curse against false speakers
The curse against false speakers should be heeded today. Any so called “prophet of God” who is wrong, and all the pew sitters speaking falsely – should be censured.
We can’t stone them. But they should be removed from “office” and never listened to again, and told to not speak falsely.
As the permanent stoning shows us in the OT: Who can put their trust in them and in what they say …ever again? Any false speaker, be they prophet or apostle or pew sitter should be censured if they claim “God has said this to me” – when actually it is something they themselves thought-up on their own.
Forgiveness is still available to repentant sinners – always, until this life ends. God is merciful to all.
Are you pressured to say something like “God told me this”? “It’s okay to be wrong. Just say what comes to mind.” Beware: The NAR charismatic churches have cancelled Old Testament warnings about misrepresenting God. But the truth is… God is still against those who “speak falsely”.
