Ecclesiastes 12:8
Your Spiritual Journey to Eternal Life
All of us will experience our life journey eventually end. It’s a sure thing. The question is: Where is your journey taking you?
The end phase of your life journey: You there yet? No worries. It’s a’comin’ (Hebrews 9:27-28).
But there is an odd phenomena I see in this old world. The oddity is: How the rich and famous end up ending their days. Not all are ending up like this, but seemingly more and more are these days. We should be there for them in their pain.
They are the self-absorbed rich and famous, hollerin’ and drawing attention to themselves, boasting loudly of their past accomplishments. They make believe that life is all about them. For years this goes on, and on, in the news and in gossip pages.
And then, I realized: they’d fallen silent. No clamoring sound. Dead quiet.
Sailing proud, they’d hit dead seas, dead calm. No wind in their sails, they had no power.
The Dead Calm…slowly disappearing
They had reached the Dead Calm at their journey’s vapid end, where life no longer packs a punch, no longer vigorous. Really living life became mere existing through the hours where all is tasteless, monotonous, joyless, sadness. Weak and suddenly unexceptional – their living sucks.
And these once so vain, so proud, so confident… have reached the valley of despair. They slowly disappear. No more hopes. No more dreams. No more spotlights overhead. Heartless souls.
They’ve reached their final insignificance. They are no longer there. Alive somewhere, but disappeared!
No one seeks them out. Invisible has-beens. Nobody cares. No more….
“all the days of vanity and futility” – Ecclesiastes 9:9
Fading pride and phony, spuddering arrogance. They’re full of it: broken marriages and divorce, family feuds, angry accusations, unforgiving all. Faintly blustering now, their confidence drains away into disillusionment and regret, they mourn the better days, fearing what comes next, lost in failing realizations. They have no hope in Jesus.
Oh regret. Oh vain wish for better times – to be forever young. They cling to their own religion of self, inextricable unBeliefism, rejecting Jesus firmly in their stubborn stiffnecked vile-to-Jesus ways. They never bow the knee.
All they are – is failing them. Mind and body, soul and spirit…failing. Most are less and less themselves as brain cells morph. Befuddled and besmirched – they barely move about. They gossip, hate and flail in anger, cynical, or go passive in anguish and woe.
And, finally, death. Their passing is not gentle, is not kind. Theirs is remorse, regret, hopeless crying and despair.
They can’t take it with them. Thy lived and breathed and ended all – in vanity and pride. BibleGateway search: vanity. Never heeded Jesus’ calling, never cared to listen to God. Every thought was self, and self, and self again.
Ecclesiastes 12:8 AMP
“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher. “All [that is done without God’s guidance] is vanity (futility).”
Ecclesiastes 12:8 NASB
“Futility of futilities,” says the Preacher, “all is futility!”
We all will reach that Dead Calm ending. But in Christ we can be full of hope, full of thankful joy.
I have hope. I’ve got that joy. I’ve got an uplifting expectancy of passing to the better shores. How ’bout you?
Strange how so many rich and famous meet their ending days. You noticed this phenomenon?
__________
This hope we have and what this hope does
Living the good life with ocurage and confident hope
Philippians 3:13-21…what I really rather be is a Philippians 3 Christian. My “citizenship is in heaven“
Imagine what being saved has meant to you
Is your life fruit – Agape Love?
Better times – forever young Exerpt: Better times are coming… when Jesus returns, this time to rescue us from the coming wrath of God (Luke 21:36; Revelation 3:10-11; Revelation 1:3). But oh how I remember those romantic dreamy days back in the 60s and 7os when I was young. (Yes, I really was!)
When difficult times assail us
Prepare your eternity with great fear and trepidation
Your Spiritual Journey to Eternal Life
How do I get to Heaven?…what’s the path to Heaven?
Getting to Heaven with no Left Foot
Betting your eternity on your thinking
Double-minded means both loving Jesus AND loving a different gospel…Double-mindedness
Oh immeasurable joy of arrival
Death. What A Wonderful Way To Explain It
At death – we put on immortality
Feeling insignificant…insignificance Exerpt: Feeling insignificant. That’s when I pray.
There is a reason I don’t shrink into a dark waste hole of waaah (where they “call whine-one-one”, and ask for a “wahmbulance”). What could become despair, is slowly drawn to hope, as I focus on:
the fantastic plans He has for me.
God is asking you to repent…Jesus’ calling
Vile to Jesus…vile-to-Jesus ways
What are the odds of you going to Hell?
Hell is my last choice, last on my list – not what I really want Excerpt: If you want to go to Hell, just do not follow Jesus. Simple. You can do it! Do you own thing.
Go to Hell. That is where you will be…
living forever without God’s goodness…
