Christian Post Commentary
Replying to Elsie on the Christian Post article, Why the Gospel cannot endorse salvation by domination, commentor Richard Aberdeen opined harshly:
“…why do these poorly schooled folks insist on using an Old English word “gospel”. Jesus is GOOD NEWS for immigrants, the poor, the sick, the enslaved and the otherwise marginalized and oppressed.”

“The Gospel” is Good News
Dear Richard: “Gospel” actually does mean “good news”, as you said. Christians like the term because it is concise. There are many “gospels” out there purporting to mean the same thing as what Jesus brought to us. Not so.
All other “good news” is counterfeit. It isn’t even good! Those gospels do not save a soul. Not even one. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ saves. He alone is God, and so He can thus forgive us for our sins.
His Gospel is provided for all mankind – not just “immigrants, the poor, the sick, the enslaved and the otherwise marginalized and oppressed.” We all need Jesus. Christians preach the Gospel to all.
Why we all need Jesus
We need Jesus because without Him – we are lost for all eternity. There is a heavenly decree against us. We must be saved by Jesus. And His Gospel – brought to us by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul and His other disciples, shows us what God requires of us to become saved.
God wants us all to be with Him in eternity.
1 Timothy 2:4 AMP
who [a]wishes all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge and recognition of the [divine] truth.
BibleGateway FootNotes
In the AMP: Salvation is offered to everyone, but each individual must choose to accept or reject God’s gracious offer.
In the NASB: “the [a – recognition]knowledge of the truth”
Salvation requires knowledge – and it requires a personal “recognition of the [divine] truth“. Knowledge alone does not save. We must acknowledge Him as Lord. Jesus saved me. Are you saved?

The Life of Keith Excerpt: I am saved. Born again. But, I am still just a man in the flesh. Still.
I am amazed: after all these years I still don’t do only what I want. I often do what I do not want to do. 1 The decision “Getting born again”, or “following Christ”… does not make anyone “sinless”. Becoming more righteous is a day by day by day process. That’s because we are still in this body of death (the flesh).
