Faith will not be necessary in heaven. The Apostle Paul said,
¨…Now we see in a glass darkly…¨ (1 Corinthians 13:12)
but not later,
when we will then be able to see ¨face to face¨.
Scripture says that ¨now¨these three abide — faith, hope, love… (1 Corinthians 13:13), but it implies in the context that later (being in the presence of God forever):
- we will no longer have to have hope (because hope looks forward to what will be),
- we will no longer have to have faith (because faith is confidence in what is not seen)….
They, faith and hope, will be ¨done away¨with (1 Corinthians 13:v8… in the context of what will disappear when we are no longer seeing ¨in a mirror darkly¨), just as will the gifts of prophecy, tongues, and knowledge. We will later have all things explained to us by Christ, therefore making the “gift of knowledge” irrelevant, since God is all knowing and we will be in His presence forever.
Our faith and hope are fixed ¨on nothing less than Jesus….¨ When we finally are brought into His Kingdom, instead of on this earth with His Holy Spirit, then we will have Him, not just merely faith and hope. They will be done away with by the very presence of God Himself – with us for all eternity.
We need NOT have faith if we are hand-in-hand with the visible God, Jesus Himself at our side! No need whatsoever to have hope, THEN, because hope is totally fulfilled with the coming of Christ. Hallelujah!
