Scripture says it loud and clear: It is not what you SAY, but what you DO, that counts with God.
Read it here: Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ ”
Imagine this scenario: How scary for me, someone who actually believes Scripture, to have deceived myself, and I arrive before God saying but, but, but “…but Lord, Lord…”, discovering too late, on That Day, that I was never “in Christ” at all, ever. How eternally horrible. (Matthew 7:21-23).
Did it matter when you SAID, “Ya, I’ll put-out the trash before I go to school.” And then you did not.
Did it matter when you SAID, “I do” at your marriage ceremony. And then you did not. And you committed adultery.
Will it matter when you arrive at God’s throne, and He says: “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”
It is so, so important to get this one thing in your life right. We must turn to Jesus and follow Him. Otherwise we really are not following Him at all, right?
