Day after day, habits are formed, time goes by… and soon you have it — “your way of life”. What kind of life are you living today? Day-in, day-out, day after day after day – we form habits, ways of doing what we do.
Ever wonder what you are, what you really are like? I want to look and really see what it is I really do, how I react, what I feel, how I think.
my routines, what I think are important things
my typical responses to others
my attitude in the morning
my thoughts of others
what makes me angry or upset
what fills me with sadness and pain
am I callused and unfeeling?
do I care when others hurt?
do I empathize with the pain of others?
do I help when others need help?
Have you looked at what you do, lately? When is the last time you helped someone somehow somewhere? Paul put it well to Titus:
Titus 3:12-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 When I send Artemas or [perhaps] Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.
13 Do your best to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they are supplied and lack nothing.
14 Our people must learn to do good deeds to meet necessary demands [whatever the occasion may require], so that they will not be unproductive.
How much effort do I expend to help when someone hurts?
How far do I go out of my way to lend a helping hand?
Do I do my best to help, or do I shirk a shoulder as I say, “Well that’s bad luck for them.”
We all have work; let no one shirk.
Put your shoulder to the wheel.
“Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel”
– Lyrics by Will Lamartine Thompson of the Church of Christ.
