Because He is our Awesome Creator — Almighty God is not reckless in any way. Why would He be?
So why do Christian song writers keep writing lyrics saying God is reckless? And why do well-meaning worship leaders and pastors lead us into singing untrue, inaccurate, unbiblical lyrics?
Should We Use Bethel Songs in Worship? 4 Diagnostic Questions – Source: |
The meaning of “reckless”:
“The definition of reckless is something that is done foolishly, carelessly, or without thinking about the consequences.” – https://www.yourdictionary.com › reckless
“…careless, freewheeling, heedless, inattentive, incautious, mindless, regardless, unheeding, unmindful.” – https://www.merriam-webster.com › thesaurus › reckless
“The word reckless means “without caution” or “without thinking about the consequences.” – https://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com › writing-for-business › writing-…
Recklessness (also called unchariness) is disregard for or indifference to the dangers of a situation or for the consequences of one’s actions, as in deciding to act without stopping to think beforehand. … Recklessness has been linked to antisocial personality disorder. – https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › Recklessness_(psychology)
Does any of that sound like the God of the Bible?
The God of the Bible is loving, and gives thought aforehand about all consequences of His actions. He knows what’s up before it happens, so nothing He does is “reckless”. He cannot be “…careless, freewheeling, heedless, inattentive, incautious, mindless, regardless, unheeding, unmindful.” Saying God is reckless – is not factual.
Come on! Let’s stop singing cutesy tunes to false narratives. 1
“Her prophets are reckless and treacherous men; Her priests have profaned the sanctuary; They have done violence to the law [by pretending their word is God’s word]. – Zephaniah 3: verse 4
1 Corinthians 13:1
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not [a]love
[for others growing out of God’s love for me],
then I have become only a noisy gong
or a clanging cymbal
[just an annoying distraction].

Unfathomable love
“…The love of God is powered by who He is: His Holiness, His Divine Nature, and His Wisdom. He is wisdom itself. He is so totally Awesome in Power that He can never be anything close to careless, hasty, impetuous, nor unwise. It’s not in His nature….”
Zephaniah 3: verse 4
“Her prophets are reckless and treacherous men; Her priests have profaned the sanctuary; They have done violence to the law [by pretending their word is God’s word].
OMGj editor note. Three strikes against this song, “Reckless Love of God” (a YouTube video from Bethel). – Information Source: The Liberty Champion article states: “the writer of this song, Cory Asbury, …explained the lyrics in the midst of singing the song at Bethel Church.”
1) The author associates with the apostate church Bethel, which shows his apostate bias and possible “apostate” stance with God;
2) The word “reckless” pushes a false narrative and should in no way be associated with our omniscient God Almighty — as noted in my article here:
“The God of the Bible is loving, and gives thought aforehand about all consequences of His actions. He knows what’s up before it happens, so nothing He does is “reckless”. He cannot be “…careless, freewheeling, heedless, inattentive, incautious, mindless, regardless, unheeding, unmindful.” Saying God is reckless – is not factual.…”

3) This song exudes the “feel good” NAR theologies of Bethel Music musicians and their false doctrines. Don’t be fooled. “Reckless Love of God” is a prime example of apostate music that lures us, like the Greek sirens — into destruction, false teachings, as this article explains: The Music Hook of Today’s Apostates. I repeat: awe should avoid the siren sounds of apostate music every bit as much as bthe warning “Do not attend apostate churches“. Any such wrong turn road leads us down to destruction.
As false teachers frequently do, musician Cory Asbury changes the definition of a word (“reckless”) and expects us to understand his god in his way. But as a good New Testament Berean, (read Berean), we should reject unbiblical teachings and false depictions of our Holy God. Just don’t go there.

Footnotes
- pushing a false narrative …It means to convey a story that isn’t real but to characterize it as if it is by creating a false story behind the situation in order to make it factual, when the history itself never happened.
