Amplified Version:
Even though
I walk through the [sunless] valley of
the shadow of death
[a Or valley of deep darkness],
I fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod [to protect] and
Your staff [to guide],
they comfort and console me.
– Psalm 23:4
Our daily walk through The Valley of Deep Darkness
Like the Psalmist, King David, we walk through darkness these days. King David knew suffering, death and destruction. And yet he said, “I will fear no evil.”
We too can say today, “I will fear no evil.” And the reason why? Not because I’m bigger and stronger, richer and unbeatable.
I will fear no evil because Jesus said (to all of us):
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
Jesus said He has this for us – not we ourselves. He, through His Spirit in us, has, for us: “perfect peace”.
We are facing an unprecedented age of darkness. Dark, dark evil is overwhelming the entire world. Satan is establishing his “end game” to counter God’s plan of the ages. But I choose to say, “I will fear no evil.”
The reason why I choose “no fear”? Because I am on God’s side. And He wins in the end. God is my Big Protector and my Wisest of Guides. We are going to live and rule with Him forever!
John 14:1-3
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Don’t let it
“Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”
I have a choice: let it, or, not. Become troubled? Become afraid? Sure as heaven, I can let my heart be overwhelmed and fearful, afraid. The evil around me is certainly that dark. (It’s around us all.)
But I choose to trust in God. His Word is sure. What the world offers?… not so much.
Inside,
the room of my heart is bright
and vibrant with color
which Jesus illumines within me.
“Even though I walk the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.”
– Psalm 23: verse 4
Those who might kill your body
Jesus pointed-out that there are those who might kill your body. “Do not fear those.” I will not be afraid of them. What can they do after they kill? They cannot injure my soul. So Jesus tells us:
Matthew 10:28
Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Jesus is our constant companion. I’ve got His joy. 1
Hebrews 13:5 Amplified
“I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
Satan is establishing his “end game”
to counter God’s plan of the ages.
But I choose to say,
“I will fear no evil.”

Believe His revealed truths. Why allow yourself to be afraid of demons, the dark, of being “alone”, when God is providing His angels to guard us at all times. Why be afraid that “something” bad is going to happen to us?
If we believe in ghosts and demons around us (especially in the dark!), why not take the whole counsel of God’s Word — and believe His revealed truths about angels and demons. Too often believers believe the Devil’s teachings — rather than God’s teachings! Movies and novels are not biblical truth!
I choose to believe God:
I am not alone in the dark. I am not alone at any time. God resides in my body. God watches over me, because He is my “Abba Father”. His will for my life definitely will be accomplished – because He is in me and has promised to “continue that good work” in me. (Philippians 1:6) I will not fear.
This is the believer’s daily call to faith:
I will believe God’s promises. I will not fear what this day brings. I will not give heed to the philosophies of man and demons. I will not fear what man or Satan may do to me or do around me. My God is greater. God is greater than all of them, and He has me in His Hands. He has promised to continue His work in and through me. I will live this day as His representative here where I live on this earth. I will live and move and have my being this day by God — in the power of His Holy Spirit within me. I will not be afraid.
Hebrews 1:14
Are not all the angels
ministering spirits
sent out [by God] to serve
(accompany, protect)
those who will inherit salvation?
[Of course they are!]

6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work [a]among you will complete it [b]by the day of Christ Jesus.
16 Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day. 17 For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]! 18 So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.
Hebrews 13:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
5 …He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you”
Hebrews 13:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said,
“I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
Romans 8:15 [As born again “sons of God” – we have an adopted Father-son relationship with God, now. We can address Him as “Abba Father”. We have a much more familiar relationship than the followers in the Old Testament eras.]
15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “[a]Abba! Father!”
BibleGateway Footnote:
“Abba!”
-
- Romans 8:15 An Aramaic word used by young children when addressing their fathers, but not used by Jews in prayer because it implies a sense of familiarity. Jesus’ use of the word emphasized his Father-Son relationship with God.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, [a]and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one [b Or from evil].
2 Timothy 2:11-13
11 The statement is trustworthy:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we [f]deny Him, He will also deny us;
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Hebrews 10:22-24
22 let’s approach God with a [a Lit true] sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful;
24 and let’s consider how to [b Or stir up] encourage one another in love and good deeds
