A quick look into 1 John 5:1-15 Living Bible Translation
Believing the witnesses
If you are thinking you want to follow Jesus, start by believing witnesses. In court, we believe the witness of 2-3 witnesses. We send criminals to prison on the witness of 2-3 witnesses. If those witnesses agree, then it must be true what they witnessed about, right?
If you believe the witnesses, then you are on track to becoming a Christian.
Jesus was put on trial in front of the entire world, basically. And it’s all recorded in the Bible, and in secular (non-religious) writings. Believing in Jesus is not a blind faith. It’s a faith based on reliable witnesses and evidences. Our faith is on solid ground.
The witness of eyewitness witnesses
To become a Christian, you must look at the record of the witnesses of Jesus’ day. You believe in the testimony of eyewitness witnesses.
Well, you should know: there were hundreds of eyewitness witnesses back when Jesus was walking the earth. The eyewitness records were written down in the New Testament Bible books. Read the Bible and you can hear what witnesses actually heard, what they saw and experienced being around Jesus.
The Bible witness is accurate
The Bible is as accurate as court records. Even more so. The record has been verified over the centuries. We can believe the Bible record.
An interesting fact from history: There is more evidence that Jesus arose from the dead after being crucified, then there is that Napoleon ever lived! Do you believe in Napoleon? Well then, “surely we can believe” in Jesus! The evidences are there.
See: | Evidence. What evidence? |
Proof for the resurrection
Furnished Proof
Evidence for all Jews and Goy that the Messiah came to earth
The Death of God
Not only was Jesus born as the one and only Godman, and ministered for 3 years, and died crucified, and was resurrected from the dead — witnesses heard it when God said in a loud voice, “This is my beloved Son“.
You can read these verses (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5, Mark 9:7, Luke 9:35, 2 Peter 1:17) where God spoke audibly several times. Eyewitnesses gave testimonies of this. We can believe it.
John tells us,
9 We believe men who witness in our courts, and so surely we can believe whatever God declares. And God declares that Jesus is his Son. – 1 John 5:verse 9
John goes on to say,
10 All who believe this know in their hearts that it is true. If anyone doesn’t believe this, he is actually calling God a liar because he doesn’t believe what God has said about his Son. – 1 John 5:verse 10
The Bible records the evidence, and outside evidences confirm it. Mark himself wrote his own eyewitness record about the life and mission of Jesus the Messiah. His record begins by saying,
The beginning of the [facts
regarding the] good news
of Jesus Christ,
the Son of God.
– Mark 1:1
And then Mark records that John the Baptist was a voice to prepare the way of Jesus:
2 As it is written
and forever remains
in the [writings of the] prophet Isaiah:
“Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You,
Who will prepare Your way—
3 A voice of one shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
[b]Make His paths straight!’”
– Mark 1:verses 2-3
The appearance of John the Baptist was predicted “in the [writings of the] prophet Isaiah“. The message of John the Baptist, and of Jesus Himself, is: “repentance for the forgiveness of sins“
4 [c]John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins [that is, requiring a change of one’s old way of thinking, turning away from sin and seeking God and His righteousness].
Turn to Jesus
We can believe the record of eyewitnesses in the Bible, every bit as much as a judge in our courts believes the truth of what 2-3 witnesses say nowadays. Eyewitnesses saw Jesus dead. They saw His empty tomb. They saw Him walk and talk with them after His resurrection.
The reality of His birth, life, and death, and resurrection is totally believable. The record of it all is confirmed by eyewitnesses. Do you believe the witnesses? Do you believe in the name of Jesus?
God is asking you to repent of your sins — and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He came down to earth to save us for an eternity with Him.
The Sure Deal
It’s up to you now. Turn to Jesus. Don’t miss-out. Jesus has the best plan for eternity.
Believe it. Choose Him today.

Practicing sin, not following Christ Excerpt: Are you practicing sin? Is there sin you constantly practice? Have you grown accustomed to accepting [“your” sin] as okay with God? Are you okay with the practices of your life? Scripture teaches us very clearly what is obviously …NOT following Christ. In fact, we are warned that “that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” You are not following Christ if this is characteristic of you: Galatians 5:16-21.
