PIC: The critical corner of this way that way
At the critical corner
When we read End Times prophecies in the Old and New Testaments, some events past jump-out at us as “fulfilled prophecies”. Others are less understandable. So, many tend to speculate (“to take to be true on the basis of insufficient evidence”) as to what they could portend (merriam-webster).
James 5:8
You too, be patient; strengthen your hearts [keep them energized and firmly committed to God], because the coming of the Lord is near.
This way That way
When you go to interpret prophecy, you are at the critical corner of this way that way. God’s meaning is what we want. After all, it was God that communicated this to us. See: Why the Bible
So many people drive up the road on That way, when God’s meaning is This way. His way is always, indisputably the right way. So why would we want to get it wrong?
I will always be careful to get down to God’s meaning. How are you driving this?
Biblical speculation is not a good hermeneutic (merriam-webster). You are on shaky ground when “your guess is just as good as mine”.
See: Going the right way
In the Apostate World
And some go beyond speculation – into the realm of …”let me tell you what God is saying to me now”. There are false prophets/teachers/apostles/ and regular church folk who claim they have “God’s words” given to them.
But actually — they decide what they want to say, then sometimes point to any Bible references their mind can think of (to allude to Scripture) — and they present their words as God’s words. That is totally in the apostate world. Is that you and your church?
See: | Pretending their word is God’s word |
| Why God is against me IF I claim my words are God’s own|
Good hermeneutics get you to the place of interpreting prophecy correctly. Sometimes good hermeneutics only gets you to the best guess – but the good teacher/preacher makes it clear that “we do not know”.
Examples of drilling-down to an educated best guess:
* “Your redemption is drawing near”
“we do not set dates for the Rapture. However, we do consider periods shown in Scripture that could very possibly point to when the Rapture might take place.
We do not know “the day nor the hour”, but we can look ahead and be ready for it. Are you ready for it?”

* From 2022: Is the Rapture this week… on Sept 26, 27, or 28 – 2022?
Luke 21:28
“Now when these things begin to occur, stand tall and lift up your heads [in joy], because [suffering ends as] your redemption is drawing near.”
FOR MORE:
Do you follow good hermeneutical principles when reading the Bible — in order to have solid biblical truth to follow? Or are you speculating frequently as to what Scripture might be communicating to us?

11 So will My word be
which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding
in the purpose for which I sent it.
