How do I get to Heaven?

The big question is:

The assumption often is: “Of course you want to go to Heaven.” Right? But: Do you, really? The first requirement for “getting” anything is: You’ve got to want it!

but I’ve got to
want to know more
about Him.

So you want to go to Heaven.
Have you looked into “How”? How do I get to Heaven? Have you gone to God and asked Him? To get anywhere – you’ve got to know where it is, move-out, and get on the right road to there.

I’m sure you’ve heard: There is no getting to Heaven “on your own“. Right? I’ve been told: “You can’t take it with you.” But that is what people try to do – the world over.

What is Heaven?
Heaven is God’s Home. It’s not our home. God Almighty is calling the shots. After all, He started all this that we see (and can’t see) — everything around us. He is the Creator God of all that exists.

So:

Who on earth does not want to go to Heaven?

What do religions promise?
Most every religion promises a “heaven”. Heaven by any other name is still heaven. Be it called “karma”, “paradise”… it is what those religions equate to “heaven”. They all want to go there, where “it’s all good”.

Here on earth it is easy to see that “here” is not where it’s at. It’s only wishful thinking at best, to say on earth, “It’s all good.” (What a ridiculous thing to say.)

“It’s all good.” Say that to the war-torn, the abused child, the battered woman, the criminals in prison, or the victims of criminals walking the streets. Well, “it all happens for a purpose”. Say THAT to them? Ridiculous.

The Promise of God
Sure as Heaven I want to know what God Himself has said to this issue. Do you want to trust your eternity into the hands of puny humans?

What is your eternity based on? What others say? What others think? What others philosophize? What religions propose? Me? Not so much. God knows. That is where He is from. Mankind can only theorize. And they all are mere humans.

What has God said about getting into His Heaven?

Heaven is the only place where we will be able to truthfully say, “It’s all good.” That’s because God will not be in Hell, and all goodness comes from Him, so… all goodness will be in Heaven. So where does that leave all of us unforgiven, meandering in Hell? What, in Hell, are we to do?

Jesus promised Heaven for those who follow Him. He does not include anyone else in His promise. Other religions make promises they can never keep. Their claims are hollow.

But Jesus is for real. According to the Bible: How do I get to Heaven?

How do I get to Heaven?

God is asking you and me to repent. (See: 1 Corinthians 1:17-25… “the simple message of the cross of Christ“)

To “repent”? That means:

“to change
[your] old way of thinking,
to regret
[your] past sins, and
to seek
God’s purpose for [your life]“

It’s a very simple message from God, actually – what He expects of us. His message is to all of us — us sinful, willful, rebellious, self-centered creatures: Acts 17:30-31

“…He commands all people everywhere
to repent
[that is, to change their old way of thinking,
to regret their past sins, and
to seek God’s purpose for their lives],
³¹because He has set a day
when He will judge the inhabited world
in righteousness
by a Man whom He has appointed
and destined for that task, and

by raising Him from the dead.”

Jesus Christ
came to earth as Godman
in order to make it possible
for mankind to be forgiven by God.
We can either choose to follow
God’s way,
or make our own way.
But only God’s way
through Christ
will ever make us acceptable
to a perfect God.
Kind of a narrow way, eh?
Yep.
That was His idea, not ours.
