Quick Quiz. What are we to do habitually?…per the Bible
Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this habitually and you will live.”
Got it? See answer below…
The Answer to the Quiz
Answer: is in Luke 10:25-29 where Jesus agreed that we are to: “…love the Lord your God with all…”
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this habitually and you will live.”
25 And a certain lawyer [an expert in Mosaic Law] stood up to test Him, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 Jesus said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this habitually and you will live.” 29 But he, wishing to justify and vindicate himself, asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
– Luke 10:25-29
_________
NOTE. The quiz answer is: we are to actually-truly “love the Lord with all… and your neighbor….” But we must understand this in context with all of Scripture:
We are not saved by “loving everyone really really a lot”. That is a works-based salvation that does not save.
According to Scripture, to get saved – we must believe in the name of Jesus to such a degree that we genuinely and truthfully love with all that we are, not just bits and pieces. Having mere “left-overs” for Jesus is not a genuine love.
Salvation is a matter of the heart. It must be all of us. All or nothing.
See: This is salvation in Christ Excerpt: It’s a very simple message from God, actually – what He expects of us. His message is to all of us — us sinful, willful, rebellious, self-centered creatures.
What God expects of us
…He commands all people everywhere
to repent
[that is, to change their old way of thinking,
to regret their past sins, and
to seek God’s purpose for their lives],
31 because He has set a day
when He will judge the inhabited world
in righteousness
by a Man whom He has appointed
and destined for that task, and
He has provided credible proof
to everyone
by raising Him from the dead.”
– Acts 17:30-31 AMP
God is asking you and me to repent. Have you …yet?

Believe in the name of Jesus Excerpt: Accepting Christ as Lord
Believing “in the name…” means you believe in “all that Jesus Christ is and does.”
See BibleGateway Quick Search list of references to: “the name of Jesus“.
When you (if you did), or I, said, “I accept Christ as my Lord and Savior”, a whole lot of “accepting” is going on there in that moment in time. Are you aware of what-all it actually requires to truly “accept Christ”?

Tolerating others and being biblical
Imagine what “being saved” has meant to you
Being unselfish, more thoughtful and gracious to others Excerpt:
Little by little I have been learning to be more and more… like Jesus (emphasis on “slowly learning”!). Being better at anything seems to always take lots of time and practice. I’m consciously practicing. I’m workin’ at it. How ’bout you?
We will produce His love
The will of God for me is without a doubt — to be more like Christ. The Bible teaches we will become more like Christ as we grow in our faith. We will produce His love – the fruit of the Spirit. I’m not a poser. I’m actually doing it!
