I belong to Jesus. How ’bout you? Jesus is…
“the God
to whom I belong
and whom I worship”
– Acts 27:33
English Standard Version Anglicised
A very meaningful church song back in my high school youth days said just that: “Now I belong to Jesus.” 1 Love that song.
My commitment to Jesus is permanent:
“Not for the years of time alone, But for eternity.”
What kind of commitment did YOU make to Jesus?
You know the phrase, “Put-up, or shut up.” Picture yourself standing before Jesus on Judgement Day. Ready for that? (Matthew 7:21-23)
“It’s time to put up or shut up.” Now!
Now is the acceptable time (2 Corinthians 6:2). Are you the type that needs a drill sergeant in your face before you’ll listen? He would be saying:
Stop with this mealy mouth, on-again, off-again 2 totally fake “relationship” with Jesus. It has to be real, or you have no “relationship” with God whatsoever. Nothing less will do, for Jesus.
Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.” 3
You must be born again.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “[a]I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
no one comes to the Father but through Me
Romans 10:9-13. Verse 9:
… if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
“if you… you will be saved.”
What saves sinners
There are huge “ifs, ands, and buts” about true salvation. And it all has to do with our quite deceptive heart. How much is heaven worth to you?
The Apostle Paul makes a definitive clarification as to “what you must do to be saved by God”. He basically states,
This is what you must do:
If you do this sincerely and truthfully…
you will be saved.
Like The Thief on the Cross it was simple, short, real, and sincere:
Nothing religious was done by the thief. He merely
(1) confessed his sinfulness, and
(2) acknowledged Jesus as “the Christ”.
And on the basis of that alone – Jesus Himself said,
“Truly I say to you,
today
you
shall be with Me
in Paradise.”

Salvation is not earned by raising your hand in church, nor merely repeating a chant or some regurgitated dogma. Salvation by Jesus requires all of your heart given-over 100% to Jesus:
– Per verse 9 of Romans 10:9-13
- You “acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord”
- You make Jesus Lord of all of you
- Your words are “recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God”
- You give God power and authority over you
- You live to conform to Jesus and His will
- You recognize the majesty of Jesus as God
- You believe in your heart (not just parroting religious words)
- You believe that God raised Him from the dead
We must belong to Jesus
With her hit song of July 13, 2018, “You Say” (Lyric with Video) – Lauren Daigle (lyrics) sings the stirring reminder that we must belong to Jesus. We truly belong to Jesus ONLY when we come to Him Through Grace and Sheer Mercy: “Taking all I have and now I’m laying it at your feet.”
When I don’t belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe, (I) oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
– Lauren Daigle (lyrics): “You Say”
Life throws everything at us to defeat us. I’ve felt the Daigle line, “When I don’t belong.” It runs in my head at times, so I must constantly reaffirm my faith and stand firm, saying “oh You say I am Yours And I believe, (I) oh I believe (I) What You say of me (I) I believe
Oh I believe, oh
Yes I believe, oh
What You say of me
Oh I believe
I must resist “popular christianity” and the voice of the Enemy, and say, “I’m not what he says I am.” I am what Jesus says I am.
According to the Bible, if you accept the Lordship of Christ, having accepted Jesus as your Savior, having repented of your sins and asked God to forgive you… then you are “in Christ”, and everything is new for you. – Source: 301 Things you are in Christ

Now I belong to Jesus
by Norman J. Clayton
Jesus, my Lord will love me forever,
From Him no pow’r of evil can sever,
He gave His life to ransom my soul;
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.
Once I was lost in sin’s degradation,
Jesus came down to bring me salvation,
Lifted me up from sorrow and shame,
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.
Joy floods my soul for Jesus has saved me,
Freed me from sin that long had enslaved me
His precious blood, He came to redeem,
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity. - merriam-webster.com: existing briefly and in an intermittent unpredictable way.
