Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His saints. – Psalm 116:15 KJV
Passing away
Passing on through to the other side is a solemn time. This life dims. We leave it behind.
For the last time we experience living “in time” as it is, then we all go to a timeless realm prepared by God.
* The mere human passes over into darkness and judgement.
John 3:3
“Truly, truly, I say to you,
unless one is born again
he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
* The born again, those who’ve been transformed by new birth in Christ – pass on over into the light of God’s presence.
Honored and Loved
For the born again, this passing is precious. We leave our “temporary tent” of woes, sorrows and struggles (2 Corinthians 5), and are instantly in God’s presence (2 Corinthians 5:6-8).
We beam over to God’s Kingdom. There we will be honored by our loving Lord.
“Because you are precious in My sight,
You are honored and I love you…”
– Isaiah 43:4
For the true believer, we can have perfect peace and rest approaching our death. For it is through grace and sheer mercy that He has made us able to be called His children.
“…you were washed [by the atoning sacrifice of Christ], you were sanctified [set apart for God, and made holy], you were justified [declared free of guilt] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God [the source of the believer’s new life and changed behavior].
– 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
I rejoice in the promise of God that His Kingdom is my home. It is very exclusive, very luxurious, very special. Better times are coming. What a time we will have there — together forever! Forever young!
He chose me. With all of everything in His realms – He chose me. How can I fail to respond to that!? Amazing grace was all He needed to give to save a sinner like me. He came down to die for me. My response of confession and acknowledgement is all He requires.
That is why I fall on my face (in my heart, my most humble position) overwhelmed, and so gratefully speak to God in prayer (from my innermost being), barely able to choose the words because the thought floods my soul:
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, God, my Father. How undeservedly I come to You, rejoicing in my elevated position in You because You have forgiven me of all my sin.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank You for making me Your forever child, forever never to be condemned again. Forever to be loved and accepted in Your Kingdom in Heaven. Wow. How amazing is your love for a sinner, just as I am.

19 …I have set before you life and death,
the blessing and the curse.
So choose life in order that you may live….
– Deuteronomy 30:19
1 Peter 5:7
“…casting all your cares
[all your anxieties,
all your worries, and
all your concerns,
once and for all]
on Him,
for He cares about you
[with deepest affection,
and watches over you very carefully].

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; [d]neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [by perversion], nor [e]those who participate in homosexuality,
10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers [whose words are used as weapons to abuse, insult, humiliate, intimidate, or slander], nor swindlers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.

Thank you, Keith! Songs of praise fill my heart and thoughts. Songs like “Blessed assurance, Jesus is Mine, Oh! what a foretaste of glory divine! ” How very blessed we are with that assurance! The assurance that Kathy knew and now is experiencing. The assurance that we, too, will experience – along with all who know Christ as our Savior and Lord. Praying for you and all the family.
Keith Swift says
Thank you for your words of encouragement, Jeanne. The passing of my sister, whom everyone loved greatly, was difficult, but, we know she was ready “to be present with the Lord.” You were her best friend, and so I know you will miss her greatly. We place our hope and confidence in Jesus, and these sorrows are then endurable. She was the best of us.
