Who said that?
When you read the original Greek of Hebrews 13:5 as Dennis Swick did, one grows to understand more from what God said about our salvation in Christ. God says: “I will never desert you…”
5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money,
being content with what you have; for He Himself has said,
“I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,”
In the Greek this last phrase of Hebrews 13:5 says (translated literally from Greek to English):
“I will no never, never ever,
in any way
leave you in the lurch,
in helpless straits,
and let you down in a destitute situation.”
The meanings in the Greek
Former OMGjesus contributor, Dennis Swick, before he died showed this to us in his post of 2011, Useless and worthless. See here the meanings of the Greek in Hebrews 13:5.
- ού μή = I will never (strong double negative “no never”)
- σε άνώ = leave you (to let sink, to let down, to fail to uphold, to hang on to)
- ούδ’ ού μή = nor (3 negatives making a triple assurance)
- σε έγκαταλίπω = forsake you (a compound of three words):
- έγ means in or “some hostile place of circumstances in which a person finds himself all alone in the lurch”.
- “κατα means down or “state of defeat , rejection, helplessness” .
- λίπω mean to desert or “to abandon a person who is in a tough spot, to forsake someone in a state of defeat or helplessness in the midst of hostile circumstances.
So get a load of THAT! And what are we to understand from that? Just how secure and bound for Heaven is the true believer?
I’d say: “Pretty secure.” More secure than anything in the universe. Why? Because God secures it. And – What God secures you cannot lose. That is more than adequate assurance for salvation. You think? I think so.
“God said it. I believe it. And that settles it for me.”
God is saying this. So, lets see this literally, fantastically:
I will never, “no never” leave you,
never forsake you,
So, from Hebrews 13:5… Answer this: When will God allow you to lose your salvation status with Him?
FOR MORE:
How long is “never”? Can it be “sometime”, or “maybe if you fail too much”? Not a chance. Read Hebrews 13:5 and let God’s Word seal your salvation forever.

Amos 9:9
“For behold, I am commanding,
And I shall shake and sift the house of Israel
among all nations [and cause it to tremble]
Like grain is shaken in a sieve
[removing the chaff],
But not a kernel [of the faithful remnant]
shall fall to the ground
and be lost [from My sight].
