God is asking us to repent. You know why? We all have sin that needs forgiving.
That’s the why of it. But what is it, really – to repent? …really and truly repent? I want to know this because God is asking for it!
worldly sorrow
Well, first off we must acknowledge that it is not “worldly sorrow” the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe. Worldly sorrow is like the criminal who is sad he got caught. THAT is not repenting of the evil acts he did.
With “godly sorrow” we submit to the will of God. That sorrow produces repentance. Real repentance comes from a heart that submits to God. He then leads to salvation.
2 Corinthians 7:10
For [godly] sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but worldly sorrow [the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe] produces death.
Excerpt from The model said, “Sorry Mom”
“Sorry” doesn’t cut it with God. He asks us to actually repent. There is an eternity of diffence. What choices are you making?
We know from the Bible and 1 John 5:13
without true repentance:
…there is no forgiveness from God
…no one would see God Romans 3:23
…we remain under the decree of condemnation The wages of sin is death – Romans 6:23
And we know that
through repentance:
…there is forgiveness of sin
…we receive His free gift of salvation 1 John 1:9
…we are then given the right to be called His children 1 John 3:1
…we thereby “get saved“…forevermore
Repentance brings righteousness
God wants “a people unto Himself” – since way back, in the beginning days, since before Creation. Through the Jewish people – God provided a way to be saved.
Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. The difference between Jews and Christians — is that Jews refused the Messiah they were looking for – whereas “Christians”, accepted Him and repented. The first Christians were both Jews and Gentiles. They became followers of Jesus on that day of Pentecost.
God sent His Son, and He wants us to accept Jesus as Messiah. To be saved – we must accept all that Jesus is and does.
Jesus is the One who makes us “a people unto Himself”… separated to be holy for His Holy Kingdom. And that holiness is not our own righteous works but rather an imputed righteousness which comes from the Holy One Himself.

Salvation is “not of works”
See references teaching salvation is “not of works“, all in one link or singly: Romans 11:6 – Ephesians 2:9 – 2 Timothy 1:9 – Titus 3:5.
He saves us – and then we begin growing – like baby toddlers. A good father does not reject the toddler who falls, learning to walk. Just so… our loving Father God continually forgives and forgives.
Growing in the faith
…into our natural new life in Christ
Read Colossians 3
These are the first five verses:
Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. 3 For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, [a]appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
5 So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body….
Set your mind – Colossians 3:2 …as I wrote in the article, Before a good cup a Joe, and Pairing with God.
Being Christian is learning to “set your mind” on Christ. I “set my mind”. See references in one link or singly: Colossians 3:2, Colossians 3:15, 1 Peter 1:15, Mark 8:33, Romans 6:13.
Read what God said in several versions here in Deuteronomy 14:2 — about being holy:
Deuteronomy 14:2 AMP
for you are a holy people [set apart] to the Lord your God; and the Lord has chosen you out of all the peoples who are on the earth to be a people for His own possession.
CJB
because you are a people set apart as holy for Adonai your God. Adonai your God has chosen you to be his own unique treasure out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
CEV
Out of all the nations on this earth, the Lord your God chose you to be his own. You belong to the Lord, so don’t behave like those who worship other gods.
So what is this “repentance” that God requires of us? 1
“Sorry” doesn’t cut it with God.
He asks us to actually repent.
Blind faith is not how to get saved. Followers of Christ are not blind followers. We need not accept Jesus blindly. Be smarter than that. Know your evidence.
He spoke to us. He has provided us with an amazing credible proof Acts 17:30-31 AMP, furnished proof Acts 17:30-31 NASB, evidences, scientific proofs, verified claims made by eyewitness witnesses.
The evidences overwhelmingly convinced me! How about you? Have you searched and investigated – given God a chance to show Himself to you? His promise is:
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw near to God,
and he will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, sinners,
and purify your hearts,
you double-minded.
– James 4:7-8 CSB
The Proof about Jesus is all there. Easy to see. We just reject it outright, or believe.
“As a legitimate way to determine whether or not Christianity is religious truth, legal reasoning is of tremendous value. Christianity is the only religion in the world where its truth-claims can be tested by legal reasoning — that is, by evidences, especially eyewitness testimony.
All other religions require its followers to accept their tenets based on the unverified claims of their founders or documents.”

The attitude of repentance
Prayer is often depicted with bended knees or with bowed head, because yieldedness is how one approaches Almighty God. It’s a reminder to our consciousness of the attitude of repentance: a yielded heart.
God does not save “just anyone who comes to Him”. He has rejected and continues to reject all cracked hearts. Got a cracked heart?!
– Source: Was your confession accepted by God?
As believers we prepare to meet our Holy Holy God by repenting of our unholy vile sins. And those newly receiving the forgiveness of God, also meet Him…repenting. It’s how our prayer is accepted by God.
FOR MORE:
How important is “repenting”? Well, it is required of any who wish to be saved by His amazing grace. I’d say that makes it very, very important!

Why was The Message version of the Bible written? Excerpt: Whatever version you prefer — read it!.. except for the heretical writings called The Passion (TPT).
The Passion Translation (TPT) and why not to use it…the version apostates use every Sunday Excerpt:
The translation done by Brian Simmons, 2 called The Passion (TPT), is not a faithful translation of the original. It is very much fraught with misleading words Simmons adds into the text (…”it is at least 50% longer than the original”). Good Christians should want to go to more accurate translations, and not ever use this deviant version. It has been so adulterated that it is not God’s Word.
TPT is not a Bible, and any church that treats it as such and receives it as canon will, by that very action, turn itself into an unorthodox sect. If the translation had been packaged as a commentary on Scripture I would not have needed to write this review; but to package it as Scripture is an offence against God.

This is forgiveness Excerpt:
The forgiveness Jesus offers us is the most costly element in the entire universe. Got a grasp on that?! Not silver, not gold, not precious metals. It’s the forgiveness by God. So we mustn’t take it lightly.
Forgiveness by God cost God. Dearly. Jesus had to die (John 3:13-16). And that is what makes forgiveness the most costly element in the entire universe.
There really is not anything more valuable than the forgiveness of God. In His unmeasurable love, God volunteered to die so that we might live. That is love!

What God asks of us in the Bible
I wish you enough
– Author Unknown
“Recently overheard was a father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the father said,
‘I love you, and I wish you enough.’
The daughter replied, ‘Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.’
They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking,
‘Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?’
‘Yes, I have,’ I replied. ‘Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?’
‘I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is – the next trip back will be for my funeral,’ he said.
‘When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough..’ May I ask what that means?’
He began to smile. ‘That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone…’
He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more.
‘When we said, ‘I wish you enough,’ we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.’
Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
He then began to cry and walked away.”

- No matter who you’ve been, what you’ve been, how bad – how “good”… God is asking you to repent and follow Him. That is it! (Luke 9:23)
“All your life – an unattainable ecstasy has hovered just beyond the grasp of your consciousness. The day is coming when you will wake to find, beyond all hope, that you have attained it, or else, that it was within your reach and you have lost it forever.”
– Source: C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain (New York: Macmillan, 1962, pg 147).There is absolutely nothing you’ve done that God cannot forgive. Nothing. God can forgive any repentant sinner – of any stripe or persuasion. No exception.
There is one thing, however: there is a time limit. You have till your last breath on earth. After that, it’s game over. And sometimes it’s over before you know it!
- Comments from an article about the TPT:
Edmond 2 years ago · Comment: About Brian SimmonsMike Winger did some research into Brian Simmons and he’s not even who he claims to be. While he did work with New Tribes, they have essentially said he did nothing in terms of translating scriptures, at best he was involved in a quality control function, but did none of the actual translation work. He also lacks any translation credentials.
So of course he had to ‘receive inspiration from God’ because he certainly doesn’t have the understanding to write a translation from the preserved manuscripts.
He also claimed he handed the people a New Testament when he left in the late 80s, which is amazing considering New Tribes said the translation was not even done until 1995.
The guy is a modern day Joseph Smith, he’s creating a false religion. It probably won’t be long before he introduces special ‘rights’ of those that ‘teach’ his heresy, like all cults eventually do.
2 Corinthians 11:12-15.
“12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”
