Have you noticed how very unwise the people of the world are becoming? James contrasts earthly wisdom with wisdom that comes from God. Where are you at?
Earthly Superficial Wisdom: James 3: verses 14-16
“[superficial] wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly (secular), natural (unspiritual), even demonic“:
14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be arrogant, and [as a result] be in defiance of the truth. 15 This [superficial] wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly (secular), natural (unspiritual), even demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder [unrest, rebellion] and every evil thing and morally degrading practice.
True Wisdom from above: James 3: verses 13, 17-18
This is what it looks like to be maturing in the faith:
13 Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him by his good conduct show his [good] deeds with the gentleness and humility of true wisdom.
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile]. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals].
In these End Times, the world is not getting better. It is growing more and more, and more and more evil, and more unwise.
13 But evil men and impostors
will go on from bad to worse,
deceiving and being deceived.
– 2 Timothy 3:13
They “suppress and stifle the truth” (See v18 of Romans 1:18-32) and “…they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened” and “22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools….” (Romans 1:21-22) Sounds like fake news media to me.
We must do the opposite: act more and more with God’s wisdom from above, and not imitate the world. No tit for tat.
So the warning should go like this: Be very careful when you feel “cognitive dissonance” with any portion of Christ’s message. Even as a believer! The message of Christ, if not accepted, causes extreme discomfort (cognitive dissonance) because Christ calls us to go against our old nature, and go against the way of the world.
The world has fallen into a condition that Christ came to save us from. Those “in the world” who think they are totally “okay”, often get frustrated, angry, and for some, violent — because they cannot accept a message like the Gospel of Jesus Christ. – Source: Cognitive Dissonance
