The haunting fear of death (Hebrews 2:15)
The haunting is real. Do you feel it? That haunting dread, death.
Satan, who had the power of death (v14), still has an enslaving hold on man (Hebrews 2:14-16). He foments fear.
The fear of death enslaves all of us all our life, until we are freed by Jesus from that fear (v16). Still feeling haunted? Still feeling enslaved?
Let Jesus take your hand. He can deliver you from that fear. That’s why He came to earth – to deliver us from fear.
What we are in Christ is astoundingly empowering in the face of fear. Believe it. Every believer has new life and new realities way beyond the normal human realities. By faith grow into it.
Oh haunting fear of death – be gone.
Jesus has already made Satan “powerless (ineffective, impotent)” for we who now are “brand new creatures” in Christ. No need to fear an impotent roaring lion. He is ready to pounce, but: keep alert and ready.
Satan is seeking to devour clueless travelers. Are you a weak prey for him to devour, or a strong warrior who knows his defenses? (See: Ephesians 6:10-18; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 1 John 4:4.) 1
“Greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world.”
– Verse 4 of 1 John 4 KJV
Be of sober spirit,
be on the alert.
Your adversary,
the devil,
prowls around
like a roaring lion,
seeking someone
to devour.
– 1 Peter 5:8
His hand of deliverance

For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of [the fallen] angels [to give them a helping hand], but He does take hold of [the fallen] descendants of Abraham [extending to them His hand of deliverance].

Since, then, “the children” have a common physical nature as human beings, he also became a human being, so that by going through death as a man he might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; and might also set free those who lived their whole lives a prey to the fear of death. It is plain that for this purpose he did not become an angel; he became a man, in actual fact a descendant of Abraham. It was imperative that he should be made like his brothers in nature, if he were to become a High Priest both compassionate and faithful in the things of God, and at the same time able to make atonement for the sins of the people. For by virtue of his own suffering under temptation he is able to help those who are exposed to temptation.
The Bible encourages us to choose to believe God, and walk boldly by faith.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
Excerpt from Ghosts, Spirits and Demons:
I choose to believe God:
I am not alone in the dark. I am not alone at any time. God resides in my body. God watches over me, because He is my “Abba Father”. His will for my life definitely will be accomplished – because He is in me and has promised to “continue that good work” in me. (Philippians 1:6) I will not fear.
This is the believer’s daily call to faith:
I will believe God’s promises. I will not fear what this day brings. I will not give heed to the philosophies of man and demons. I will not fear what man or Satan may do to me or do around me. My God is greater. God is greater than all of them, and He has me in His Hands. He has promised to continue His work in and through me. I will live this day as His representative here where I live on this earth. I will live and move and have my being this day by God — in the power of His Holy Spirit within me. I will not be afraid.

“Death holds no power over us, cannot keep us dead, does not take us to Hell, and will forever be a thing of the past when Jesus resurrects the dead in Christ and raptures those yet alive on earth when He returns. – Source: Jesus abolished death (Coming Soon)
About death:
1. Death holds no power over us,
2. Death cannot keep us dead,
3. Death does not take us to Hell, and
4. Death will forever be a thing of the past when Jesus resurrects the dead in Christ and raptures those yet alive on earth when He returns.

14 Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—
15 and [that He] might free all those who through [the haunting] fear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives. 16 For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of [the fallen] angels [to give them a helping hand], but He does take hold of [the fallen] descendants of Abraham [extending to them His hand of deliverance].
17 Therefore, it was essential that He had to be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might [by experience] become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things related to God, to make atonement (propitiation) for the people’s sins [thereby wiping away the sin, satisfying divine justice, and providing a way of reconciliation between God and mankind]. 18 Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.
Footnotes
- If we have accepted Christ (like the thief on the cross) we are powerful! Huge! Why? Because…
- We are not merely human. We have been born-again, made brand new creatures in Christ.
- We have the Spirit, God Himself, always in our body. Totally amazing truth.
- Plus, on assignment to us, we have numerous bodyguards, God’s loyal angels, in every moment of every hour – standing watch over us from their unseen dimension. They make sure only God’s will is done with us.
- And, we have God’s promises that put parameters of protection against the angelic powers of the Evil One.

“Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].” – 1 John 4:4.
