“…these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, unqualified and worthless [as teachers] in regard to the faith.” – 2 Timothy 3:8
False teachers in the NAR movement are not just sadly mistaken, having been mislead. Scripture describes deceptive groups and leaders, such as NAR type leaders, as “unqualified and worthless [as teachers] in regard to the faith.”
They “oppose the truth“. They are “men of depraved mind“.
The New Testament Apostle Paul is clear about this. If you want to get to heaven you have to have “the faith” (of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul)… and they do not have it. You cannot get to Heaven by adhering to “another gospel” such as the faith of NAR teachers.

Deception
Scripture further describes NAR type deceptive leaders here:
1 Timothy 6:3-5
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine and teaching which is in agreement with godliness (personal integrity, upright behavior), 4 he is conceited and woefully ignorant [understanding nothing]. He has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, which produces envy, quarrels, verbal abuse, evil suspicions, 5 and perpetual friction between men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth, who think that godliness is a source of profit [a lucrative, money-making business—withdraw from them].
According to this Scripture by Paul to Timothy, 1 Timothy 6:3-5…
The NAR type deceptive leader:
- teaches a different doctrine
- does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ
- does not agree with the doctrine and teaching which is in agreement with godliness (personal integrity, upright behavior)
- is conceited and woefully ignorant [understanding nothing].
- has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words
- produces envy, quarrels, verbal abuse, evil suspicions
- produces perpetual friction between men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth,
- thinks that godliness is a source of profit [a lucrative, money-making business
We also learn more about these false teachers from Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:1-8.
“6 For among them are those….”
2 Timothy 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
2 Timothy 3:1-8
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, [a]haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of [b]godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these. 6 For among them are those who [c]slip into households and captivate [d]weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the [e]knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, [f]worthless in regard to the faith.
Be warned
We are told to “—withdraw from them” (1 Timothy 6:5). Not long ago I wrote this about that: Do not attend apostate churches. We must know what true biblical faith is all about – by studying Scripture (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
