An appeal to NAR-type Charismatic people.
Apostate churches are everywhere. There are more NAR-type Charismatics than most realize – tens of thousands worldwide. And that is why I am so concerned for you. Are you attending one, leading one, or have relatives in one?
My read on Scripture
What I see in the Bible about these groups – is grim. Scripture gives the ultimate grim outlook for so-called Christians that adhere to the apostate NAR-type doctrines and practices.
The scariest thing about them? “Another Gospel” from wayward false teachers does not get you to Heaven! Scripture is adamant:
The reality of God’s universe is
— it’s not your universe.
It behooves us to seek after God
and get His word on things.
Our thoughts are not His thoughts.
My thoughts
will not be consulted by God
on That Day.
“No matter how loving and kind you are, how long you have claimed to follow Jesus — if you reject God’s Word and walk in direct conflict with what He has required of us all: how can He accept you into His Kingdom? He will not.”
– From: Balancing-out my faith with my practice.
God owns truth. Some of us never seem to get it: All sin is heinous to God.
Misinterpreting Scripture
Acting on misinterpretations of Scripture – is sin. If you continue to proclaim “God has told me…” then you practice wickedness (Matthew 7:21-23).
The pedophile who says it’s okay with God to have sex with children… is acting in sin through a misinterpretation of Scripture. That is condemned by God. So it is with the NAR-type who misinterprets Scripture to practice what they want.
You cannot act with impunity when you cover your “Christian faith sin” with your Christian “faith” trappings! Crying “Holy holy holy is our Lord God Almighty” – does not make it okay to lie about God. While we say we put forth “God’s words” but actually only speak our own words (thus misrepresenting God), we sin grievously.
Saying my thoughts are God’s words to say
Saying God guides our thoughts – so my thoughts are God’s words to say, is not legitimate. God is not giving you His words! He promised to guide your thoughts. You cannot say (before God) that your thoughts are thus His thoughts. Your thoughts are yours alone! “Who can know the mind of God?”
It is a clear sin when you declare “God has told me…”, when actually your words are only what you imagine God is saying (because you are such an intimate friend of His!?) God is against you in that.
“Truly I perceive that
God doesn’t show favoritism;
but in every nation he who fears
(or reveres) him and works righteousness
is acceptable to him.
– Acts 10:34-35 WEB
You will never get away with doing what God is against. It is only His forgiveness that removes the penalty of sin in His Kingdom. And His forgiveness is only for those who repent.
God calls His followers to reject sin (2 Corinthians 7:1), all that He calls “sin”, and press on to our upward calling (Philippians 3:12-14). – Adapted From: Balancing-out my faith with my practice:
The New Testament Apostle Paul is clear about this. If you want to get to heaven you have to have “the faith” (of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul)… and they do not have it. You cannot get to Heaven by adhering to “another gospel” such as the faith of NAR teachers.

In the End Days Jesus Himself is heard here addressing the issue of Charismatic practices as “you who practice lawlessness” (in the NASB version), or, as “you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]’ (in the AMP version).
Jesus’ condemnation of Charismatic practices is found in the scariest verse in the Bible. He said,
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’ – Matthew 7:21-23
This similar account adds,
“‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’; 27 but He will say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers!’” – Luke 13:22-30
It is the will of Father God that we follow both OT and NT Scripture. Many NAR-type practices, such as The Bethel Johnson’s unbiblical teachings, severely contradict the Gospel of Jesus. Do you really want to contradict God? Wow. Read what Paul says about this to Timothy.
The NAR type deceptive leader…
1 Timothy 6:3-5…
- teaches a different doctrine
- does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ (such as Matthew 7:21-23)
- does not agree with the doctrine and teaching which is in agreement with godliness (personal integrity, upright behavior)
- is conceited and woefully ignorant [understanding nothing].
- has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words
- produces envy, quarrels, verbal abuse, evil suspicions
- produces perpetual friction between men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth,
- thinks that godliness is a source of profit [a lucrative, money-making business
We also learn more about these false teachers from Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:1-8.

NAR-type Teachings
Your purported agreement with a “Jesus only always faith” is phoney baloney — if you do not obey Jesus, because “works” must follow your mouthed words. Jesus quoted the Old Testament many times, thus stamping His approval of the Old Testament (OT) for us – still.
So why is it that NAR-types can teach contrary to Jesus, saying the OT has been nullified by Jesus’ own New Covenant? 1
They teach practices for which: God is against them. THAT is the scariest thing.
REFERENCES for
“I am against you”:
Deuteronomy 6:15; Deuteronomy 31:27; Matthew 22:29; Ezekiel 13:8; Ezekiel 13:9; Ezekiel 13:20; Ezekiel 14:9-11.
Really want to go with them? They excuse their false practices by denying Old Testament (OT) relevance. Totally astounding! Their prophets conveniently claim their doctrines are exempt from OT warnings. They negate the fact that the OT is still good to go. They are busy changing what God started! I would never dare do that! The Bible warns against that.
Contrary to their prophecies, the OT has not been counted down-and-out. The New Covenant that Jesus introduced does not negate the OT (contrary to their claim). The truth is – nowhere in the New Testament is the OLD negated. Not a chance!
We must know well what Scripture actually teaches, or we may fall prey to their enticing apostate elements of doctrine. NAR-type “Charismatics” are pulling people into their net. Their music is very alluring. Are you already caught-up in their false doctrines?

Calling out false teachers – Charismatic Apostates
The problem with Charismatic Apostates is that they habitually disobey God. And you cannot practice sin, walk in disobedience to God, practicing what He calls “sin” — “keeping sin”… and then be acceptable to God. Preach till you’re blue in the face about God’s grace – but it is clear in Scripture that they are living in disobedience. Making sin a practice is what lost sinners do.
Charismatic Apostates
Verse 19 of 1 John 2:18-19 speaks of Charismatic Apostates:
“19 They went out from us [seeming at first to be Christians], but they were not really of us [because they were not truly born again and spiritually transformed];
for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out [teaching false doctrine], so that it would be clearly shown that none of them are of us.”

“…men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth,
“…who think that godliness is a source of profit [a lucrative, money-making business…]” – 1 Timothy 6:3-5
Teachers faithful to Jesus (like Timothy) are told:
“instruct certain individuals not to teach any different doctrines, 4 nor to pay attention to legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies….” – 1 Timothy 1:3-7

Practicing, walking in …sin
There are dire consequences of walking in sin. Accepting a sin as God’s will for you – is a Hell of a way to go.
Put quite starkly: If you support what is actually evil in the eyes of Holy Holy God, you are unworthy of coming into God’s Heaven. You do not meet the standard of God’s Holy Holy Kingdom. Think you will sneak in anyway??

Gifts by the Spirit
In 1 Corinthians 12 the Apostle Paul gives specific teaching about the “varieties of spiritual gifts” and the “varieties of ministries and service”. See: 1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:11-14; Romans 12:3-9.
I am not teaching here on “the gifts” (that’s a whole ‘nother study), but it is important to note that all gifts are done through us by the power of the indwelling Spirit. Right?
What is relevant here now is that whatever you believe about cessationism or continuationism, “the gifts” are from the Holy Spirit – not by our own power. We must move with the Holy Spirit in our given gifts. It is He that empowers “the gifts”.
If some of the gifts were temporary, then beware. Be aware that if the “charismatic gifts” are no longer being imparted by the Spirit, then it follows that those who practice those gifts are working without the Holy Spirit – if He indeed allowed those gifts to be done away with.
Thus, if we work those gifts – we can be working in the flesh, in disobedience to God. Scary thought.
* If the Holy Spirit no longer has apostles, then their words are their own words, not God’s. So when that so-called apostle “speaks forth” or gives a predictive type prophecy — he/she is not of God, and God is against them.
* If the Holy Spirit no longer gives a “word of knowledge” or “word of encouragement”, etc, then he/she is not of God, and God is against them.
Dare to Stand Apart
Can you dare to part ways with the paganism of apostate teachings? Protect your faith. Protect the eternal destination of your families: just walk away. Find a church faithful to Scripture.
See: | About staying true & faithful to Jesus |
| Jesus will reject many “Christians” |
We are warned about the abuse of authority in the church. Scripture says to not let church authorities “lord it over you” (Matthew 20:25-28, Mark 10:42-45, 1 Peter 5:1-8).
We do not need any person to “lay hands” on us in order for the Spirit to move inside us. There is no Scripture teaching leaders to “lay hands on” people, nor to “slay them in the Spirit”, nor to heal someone, and so forth. Jesus did it to heal (Luke 4:40; Mark 8:23). But that was Him, not us. 2
During the early church period some received the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands by Peter and John (Acts 8:18), but that was never advocated by the apostles. That does not make the practice normal for us (Hebrews 6:2).
There were “miraculous signs” and laying on of hands, “attesting signs and great miracles taking place” (Acts 8 verses 6 and 13):
6 The crowds gathered and were paying close attention to everything Philip said, as they heard [the message] and saw the [miraculous] signs which he was doing [validating his message].
And, miraculously, Philip was “beamed up” like in Star Trek!
“…the Spirit of the Lord [suddenly] took Philip [and carried him] away [to a different place]; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip found himself at [f]Azotus….
– (Acts 8 verses 39-40)
All the signs – or just what they can fake?
So does your church guru have all the Scriptural signs happening… or just some worked-up contrivances? They teach “laying on of hands”, and “speaking in tongues” — but do they require all the “attesting signs and great miracles” and the ability to be carried away physically to another place like Philip? If you have one sign – why not more?
If one sign – why not the others? There is no precedence for grabbing one or two. God used miracles and the miraculous to establish the validity of His Gospel during the early church days. It is not taught as normal for us to do later, in these days. And nobody does. They pick and choose.
Receiving His Spirit upon salvation is enough! Expect the Scriptural — not the phony replica of what truly happened in the early church as attesting signs.
Some teach that a special filling of the Spirit must follow salvation. But do they do it exactly like God did it at Pentecost? No. They pick and choose the Pentecost features they can manipulate. A second filling is not taught in Scripture. Examine the Scriptures for yourself.
God made attesting signs at Pentecost to show us He was fulfilling the prophecy of Jesus. Do Charismatics do all those attesting signs? No.
It stands to reason, God does not require those signs now. Walk away from churches that act as if only the “spiritual leader” can do “the things of the Spirit”. See: The Gurus in Christian Churches.
Today’s “Christian” gurus also err — so visibly, that they reveal themselves as not of us, so profoundly into error that they are not the sheep of Jesus, but rather just more goats of another flock, not “the sheep of my pastures”, as Jesus taught. See: Jeremiah 23:1; John 10:23-30. – Source: The Gurus in Christian Churches
Does your “church guru” have all these attesting, miraculous signs of Pentecost happening when they lay hands on you, slay in the Spirit, or fill you with the Spirit? Or have they grabbed just one or two signs? What nonsense. A whole culture has developed around poached references to “charismatic gifts” – distorting what God intended.
Signs God Performed at Pentecost Acts 2:
God did not intend for “the Pentecost experience” to be normative throughout the future church. It was a demonstration of the coming of the Holy Spirit that Jesus had promised.
Do you do one of these, but not do “the whole Pentecost package”?
The Complete Pentecost Experience
- “…suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind
- “it filled the whole house where they were sitting
- “There appeared to them tongues resembling fire
- “which were being distributed [among them]
- “they [tongues resembling fire] rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit]
- “And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit
- “and began to speak in other [b]tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately].
- “each one was hearing those in the upper room speaking in his own language or dialect.
- “[Among us there are] Parthians, Medes and Elamites, and people of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and [c]Asia [Minor], 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and the visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes (Gentile converts to Judaism), 11 Cretans and Arabs
“—we all hear them speaking
in our [native] tongues
about the mighty works of God!”
– Acts 2:Verse 9
________________
Acts 2:1-11
“When the day of [a]Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place, 2 and suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 There appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were being distributed [among them], and they rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit]. 4 And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other [b]tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately].
The complete Pentecost experience
Does your church practice the complete Pentecost experience or… just one or two convenient ones? Is the exact Pentecost tongues experienced – or do you explain it away and just do some other “Charismatic” NAR type “speaking in tongues”? (Note: The Pentecost tongues is not what Charismatics practice today.)
Many have to be taught how to do it (they give lessons on “how to speak in tongues”)! How genuine is that?!
Were you taught “how to speak in tongues? What what what!? If the Spirit does it – does He need help? Not at all: no training was needed at Pentecost! The people just did it. How? – “As the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately]” (v4).
The Spirit gave them “the ability”… not the apostles!
Those listening on THAT Pentecost day asked “how is it that each of us hears in our own language or native dialect?” Upon being filled with the Spirit the Christians spoke to the people present – “in their own language“.
What about you? Is that what you practice? Do you speak to the people present – “in their own languages” as at Pentecost? Or is it a different experience from that of THAT day?
We should practice true teachings of Scripture. Many Charismatic practices have been established by errant church leaders. Why – we should be seeing “the whole Pentecost package”! But what we are seeing from Charismatic churches is them practicing only what they can work-up in the flesh.
Charismatics can not perform Pentecost signs
Charismatics cannot reproduce what God did, specific real-life, visible miracles.
1. Cannot… Have a sound come from heaven suddenly like a rushing violent wind
2. Cannot… Have the wind fill the whole house where they were sitting
3. Cannot… Make tongues resembling fire appear to them all
4. Cannot… Distribute the tongues of fire among them
5. Cannot… Have the tongues resembling fire to rest on each one of them as each person received the Holy Spirit
6. Cannot… Cause that “they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit
7. Cannot… Cause that each begins to speak in other [b]tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately].
8. Cannot… Cause that each begins to speak in real languages so that “each one was hearing those in the upper room speaking in his own language or dialect.”
“—we all hear them speaking
in our [native] tongues
about the mighty works of God!”
– Acts 2:Verse 9

Early Church Experiences
So why do Charismatics even try to speak in tongues? Why does God not do all the Pentecost experience every time a new believer is saved and gets filled by the Holy Spirit (or at least the 8 listed above). Acts 19 relates other early church practices and experiences. But they are not indicated anywhere in Scripture as normative for the church. It was a Pentecost thing.
Once again we see people forcing God to do what He has not said He would do. Like: Making God Speak
If it was “normative”, then: Why do so many follow just one or two practices — but not perform a miraculous sign or create tongues of fire above their heads, or claim they can “beam up” like Philip? Maybe only because they can’t imitate THAT?
Charismatic Practices that are not normative You can see this if you examine Scripture closely
* It is not normative for us to “beam up” like Philip, so why claim the other practices?
* It is not normative to pick and choose our favored experiences from the early church.
* It is not normative to say “God has told me…” when all you do is make-up your own words. If we do that we begin to leave the normative Gospel of Jesus as taught by the early church apostles. God is against that.
* It is not normative to have “a word of encouragement” direct from God – and then just make-up your own words from your own thinking. God is against that.
* It is not normative to predict a future event… and then be wrong, say “I’m sorry…”, and continue on as if nothing happened.
* It is not normative to have to lay hands on someone for them to receive the Holy Spirit. (Acts 19:2-6)
* It is not normative to wait for the filling of the Spirit. That was only in the initial stages of God establishing His early church. The filling is immediate, not a “special blessing”. (Acts 19:2-6)
“I am against you”, God says
God is against those who misrepresent Him, against those who fake having God speak directly to them. He is against those who supposedly have a predictive prophecy from God – but it’s just their own imaginations working overtime. He is against those who claim a new revelation from God – when it is only their subjective thinking with their own imaginations. He is against whatever is not His will. Are you sure you are in His will?
