I confirm my salvation – in His Word
Because I am a bit of a lunkhead MirWeb, periodically I must remind myself why Jesus will accept me into His Holy Kingdom. I’m still not holy. And that drags on me. I’m workin’ at it, however.
I am almost perfect (in the sense of: I am old, and almost dead and into Heaven!) – but I’ll have to wait and pass on through to the other side for active perfection. Hardly can wait for that day! (2 Corinthians 5:1-10)
Soon Jesus will return –
and then, I will be perfect.
I will be perfect at last! I will say,
“Thank God I’m perfect at last!”
– Source: I am almost perfect
It’s not that I fear I’ve lost it. I actually live with confidence. I accepted Christ and am following Him. It is well with my soul – thank God. Scripture tells me that never again will I ever be under God’s condemnation. He saved me. That settles it for me!
Affirming my salvation
It’s just a thing where I must affirm instead of squirm. Though infrequent, my terrors in the dark place can be daunting. We are the odd creature, are we not?
I live in terror of that dark place where forever I’ll regret my willful sins.
But then, again I find the safe sweet spot in my mind. And Jesus gives me respite, restores His peace and calmness, gives me restfulness, builds me up, and I’m confident again.
I’ve found my safe-in-Jesus place.
– Source: My terrors in the dark place
I work at having a well-guarded soul and a good conscience — so that then I can more easily stay in my “safe sweet spot in my mind”.
God has taken-up residency in my soul. So in my mind I meet God in prayer, and read in His Word what He has said for me 2 Timothy 3:16. And I extinguish the fiery darts of The Wrong One, the Deceiver Ephesians 6:16.
I am submitted and committed — to living His life in me. And when I sin again, I submit again, and repent. No wallowing, no refusing to turn from sin, no keeping sin. I follow Jesus. 1
James 4:7 “So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.”
When I affirm my salvation by Scripture
When I do this, when I affirm my salvation by Scripture, I end-up shouting praises to God (in my mind) and my spirit is lifted high. I fly swiftly like an eagle Jeremiah 49:22.
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired.”
– Isaiah 40:31
4 Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
– Philippians 4:4-7
Why Jesus will accept me
I go to Scripture. It used to be …by memory. But now that I am older, I click into BibleGateway and I find fragments in my memory that I type-in… and I’m led further into Scripture.
Here are some confirming and affirming passages affirming my salvation. I brush away doubts and see once again…
Why Jesus will accept me:
Why Jesus will accept me
I stand on God’s Word. He has declared me set free! When it comes to salvation – it is what God has told me about it — that I stand upon.
How affirming to know what Scripture states about His grace and mercy. It’s not about past sins – but rather about His wonder-working salvation of sinners who repent.
No “expert” Bible-thumping guru holds the key of knowledge about my salvation. Only Jesus and His Word.
There are so many false teachers, whole denominations and movements even, like the NAR-types… teaching their own “take” on Scripture — and they are wrong, wrong, wrong. Who wants to be wrong when kneeling before Jesus on Judgement Day!?
I refuse to listen to false teachings, by “Christian church” gurus, the mere opinions of empty suits, and philosophizing by unsaved, undisciplined, joyfully sinful ones. Jesus is the Gatekeeper of Heaven. In fact, He said, “I am the door.”
Quite a solid door — Jesus! He is who I listen to.
John 10:7-9
7 So Jesus said again, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I am the Door for the sheep [leading to life]. 8 All who came before Me [as false messiahs and self-appointed leaders] are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security).
Doubting salvation is an age-old issue. I deal with it. We all deal with it. Jesus met one who was in doubt, an expert even:
Luke 10:25-29
And a certain lawyer [an expert in Mosaic Law] stood up to test Him, saying,
“Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
I answer doubting moments with Scripture. How do you do it?
Why Jesus will accept me
By grace through faith I accepted Jesus as my Savior.
8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith.
And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].
– Ephesians 2:8-9
Why Jesus will accept me
I know salvation is for me, because Jesus said, “Whosoever will may come“. Jesus saves any and all who come to Him as He requires. I did that. And 65 years later I am still following Jesus!
Life is short, so I have to keep myself on track, keep focused, careful not to dither dodder, shilly-shally, fritter life away.
Why Jesus will accept me
I am sold-out to Jesus, 100% given-over to Him. (Not 100% sinless – but I submitted all my heart to Him.) Jesus’ answer to the lawyer (in Luke 10:25-29) was… be 100% given-over to Me in your heart. Interesting that John touched on this issue of “sin”, saying: ”
“If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
– 1 John 1:10
Also see this BibleGateway search for “is a liar“
Jesus has accepted me. Now I belong to Jesus! Because I have been saved — I have already passed from death to life. I am presently already living-out everlasting life in Jesus (1 John 5:13).
26 Jesus said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this habitually and you will live.” 29 But he, wishing to justify and vindicate himself, asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” – Luke 10:25-29
Why Jesus will accept me
I called out to Jesus, believing in His Name. “As many as call on His Name will be saved” See: Believe in the Name of Jesus
1 John 5:13
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God [which represents all that Jesus Christ is and does], so that you will know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have eternal life.
John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Acts 10:43
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
Acts 16:29-34 “30 …what must I do to be saved?”31And they answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord [concerning eternal salvation through faith in Christ] to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their bloody wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household. 34 Then he brought them into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, since he had believed in God with his entire family [accepting with joy what had been made known to them about the Christ].
Why Jesus will accept me
I know Jesus saved me because I responded to Him by yielding to Him 100% of my heart – my will, my life – all of it, and I repented of my sin.
2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
I like how the Amplified version puts it: “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord stand apart from wickedness and withdraw from wrongdoing.” I do that daily.
What I rather prefer is to be in Heaven already! But in the meantime, I’ll press on being an Ephesians 4:22-24 Christian.
22 that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires,
23 and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude],
24 and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth
[living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation].
How about you? Are you pressing on? Philippians 3:13-15

We are the odd creature – are we not? Excerpt: How I live this life
It really does matter how I live my life. What I do now affects the life just beyond the veil. So I have determined this: I live now for later. Since I am human, I will continue to fail God and myself, but I “run a tight ship”, as a mariner would put it. I refuse to allow bad fruit to become acceptable. I’m livin’ it to the max! Footnotes
- James 4:6-10 My faith and gratitude for His salvation
6 But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”7 So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you.
Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. 9 Be miserable and grieve and weep [over your sin]. Let your [foolish] laughter be turned to mourning and your [reckless] joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].
