Godly sorrow vs Worldly sorrow

“Sorry about that”…is said so quick and easy these days.

But with God? Just being sorry doesn’t cut it with God. He recognizes a sorrow of a different type: godly sorrow.

2 Corinthians 7:10 For [godly] sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but worldly sorrow [the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe] produces death.

Genuine “godly sorrow”, yeilds to the will of God.

When we sin ⁽¹⁾it can bring us down to a sorrow where we acknowledge God, and we repent wholeheartedly before God, believing Him.

Or, when we sin ⁽²⁾ we can merely sorrow hopelessly, without God in the picture — because we do NOT believe.

The one sorrow ⁽¹⁾ leads to salvation.

But this other sorrow is⁽²⁾ a failure to believe, and we just drown in it.

This is forgiveness Excerpt: The forgiveness Jesus offers us is the most costly element in the entire universe. Got a grasp on that?! Not silver, not gold, not precious metals. It’s the forgiveness by God. So we mustn’t take it lightly.

Forgiveness by God cost God. Dearly. Jesus had to die (John 3:13-16). And that is what makes forgiveness the most costly element in the entire universe.

There really is not anything more valuable than the forgiveness of God. In His unmeasurable love, God volunteered to die so that we might live. That is love!

God is asking you to repent…He is asking

Do people know of your faith in Jesus? Does it matter? Does it matter – what you believe?

On what do you base your beliefs? Haley Kalil chose to dance to the bad word song, and apologized to her mom (but did it anyway and had the video published). Not really sorry, she continued on her way as before.

And I’m learning.
He’s changing me over time. I’m much different now than I was 73 years ago! Ask my wife. She’s been with me for 51 years.

I’m a stand up guy ^meaning. I’m naturally prone to disobey ^{Romans 7:15}, buck the tide, stand my ground, and do my own thing. God is still teaching me ^{Philippians 2:3} to keep tight reins over my wild and crazy stallion heart.

I’m so bad that I’ve developed a little habit of frequent repentance which helps me be more consistent: conforming to be more like Jesus ^{Romans 12:2, Job 22:21}. How do you deal with the sins in your life, eh?

Are you “contrary” – not conforming to the Gospel?

Are you being warned by the Holy Spirit about being “out“?

Arguing with God

So does God ever say “What do you think, Joe? Jane, What should I do?” Excerpt: He wrote it down for us…What God has going on with us here on this planet – what He wants from us.
Throughout the centuries He has had it written down for us. We can know. Have you looked… to know?

He told us what He thinks. He has decided His Way.
