Back in the day, salvation was a mystery. Then Jesus came down to be our perfect lamb of God “who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29. Hebrews 10:10) Now we know: Jesus is our salvation.
God is “faithful and absolutely trustworthy” to you in your salvation
God does not save the unlucky person, even by His marvelous grace, who does not follow Him in obedience. You don’t just waltz in, say “Okay God. Looks good”, then walk out and do your own thing. The Godman Jesus said “Follow Me”. The concept of getting saved without then obeying and following Jesus is not in the Bible.
I have stumbled like a drunk
Are you “pursuing spiritual perfection”? Or: Are you deep in the miry clay, still, lost in your sinfulness? Want to get out? Turn. Get yourself to Jesus through sincere and truthful prayer. Christians do not have to sin. You once turned – to it. And so it is a choice also to turn from it, from what has ensnared you – and turn to Jesus in repentance. It’s a choice: be faithful once again, or stumble like a drunk, eat vomit like a dog, wallow like a pig.
Want to be wise?
Still think you are smarter than the rest, that your way is the right way? Have you considered that God might be smarter?
Born of God
To be saved, you must die to yourself, and then be reborn – like a grain of wheat dies to then be born again to new life. Jesus said this clearly in John 3: “You must be born again.”
Living Daily with gentleness and respect
So what’s it going to be today? Anger, sadness, loneliness, depression, despair? Or will you be “full-up”… filled up with “hope and confident assurance” (1 Peter 3:15)?
