What it has meant to me – “being saved“
I am absolutely, supremely jazzed by the thoughts – as I have paused to imagine what “being saved” has meant to me. Pause a moment to think of this with me, will you?
What has “being saved” meant to you?
“I have to declare” Rita Springer – I Have To Believe Lyrics
Love that Rita Springer song! I just have to declare — I am ready for The Promised Land! Jesus the Messiah has spiritually prepped me for an eternal existence in His Holy Kingdom Heaven.
Legally Damned – Legally Forgiven
I am ready! I am, right this moment, now, a child of the King. As Scripture teaches it, I am Positionally Declared “Not Guilty“ by the Judge of All.
When Jesus saved me, I was declared to be no longer condemned to eternal death (past tense). I am still in the human temp status of incompleteness (present tense), but, my position MirWeb with God is “forgiven forever by the blood of the Lamb”.
I am now free, and can never ever be subject to His condemnation. Never ever again will I be condemned by God – – because I have been forgiven by God.
And therefore, because I have been forgiven (past tense), I stand before God now without a spot or blemish! Like any guilty criminal set free by the legally authorized earthly judge, we get saved by God’s legal Courts — by the mercy and amazing grace of our great heavenly Judge.
Set Free Forever
Through Jesus we have that grace available from Heaven. He is able to set free all who believe in Him. We repent – and He forgives.
We need only respond. See set free — all in one link or one by one: Romans 7:24, Matthew 20:28, Luke 4:18, 1 Corinthians 6:11, Romans 8:2, John 8:32, Romans 6:18, Romans 6:22, Luke 4:18, 2 Corinthians 3:9, Galatians 4:31, Galatians 5:1, Romans 6.
He has set me free. No longer am I subject to His condemnation and wrath. Hallelujah.
Hebrews 9 explains the heavenly legal arrangement for us to be forgiven. Forgiveness had to be declared – legally – by God through His justice system, or God would not have been just – and we would never have had a chance to be saved.
God, being holy, cannot accept sinfulness into His Kingdom, so all mankind was condemned forever. We are not born-killers (!) but we are born-sinners. And once born, then we live a little and prove that we truly cannot – not sin!

I am well in my soul, as I am yielding to His Spirit within me. And He continues His work in Me (called “sanctification” – the work of un-becoming). What a tremendous God of love the Bible shows us.
“We start “un-becoming” (un-doing) what we were before Christ — and little by little “conforming” to Jesus [with all that we live-out]. The “pre-Christ” conforming to the world starts getting un-done as we begin our journey with Christ. Has that been your experience?”

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
By God I’ve been made eternal to live for Him. And soon, very soon, He is returning to transform me into an immortal (1 Corinthians 15). Wow! Can’t hardly wait.
At death – we put on immortality
I am so very, very grateful, and immensely thankful, that God…
- saved me (What being “saved” means)
- made me ready for His Holy Kingdom, (Jesus paid it all), and
- is still working on me (The non-stop work of God inside you and me).
“Please be patient with me.
God is not finished with me yet.”
12 Not that I have already [a]grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that [b]for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore, all who are [c]mature, let’s have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that to you as well….”
– Philippians 3:12-15

does for us who
accept Jesus on His terms.
Francis Schaeffer said

I’ve been redeemed
I was saved on the spot instantaneously. What is totally astounding is that it happens full-bore Google it: with maximum effort or speed …in the now, in the moment of belief in Jesus (“believe” in the New Testament sense). 1
Were you saved “on the spot” one day way back when, or, was it “not effective” because you were not yielding your heart?
I’ve been redeemed
I was saved before I finished praying! I was eternally saved without any sort of delay as I prayed very sincerely and honestly (a prayer made-up by that scrawny little 7 year old boy back in 1959). Here’s an example of a confession prayer made on His terms: Prayer of Repentance.

I’ve been redeemed
I was saved in that instant by Jesus when He knew me. In the very instant our omniscient Savior saw my heart He knew me to be straightforward, sincere, honest – without reservations. He knows. He knows our thoughts and intentions. He’s kind’a smart. You know? (Who would have thunk! ha)
Jesus saves instantly — or not at all. Not at all… if we are faking it. He sees our heart like an open book. Our heart is bare open. It’s like He reads us clearly, whatever we truly are in that moment of decision.
He reads us clearly:
He sees
** honesty –or– guile See: OMGjesus Site Search for: “without guile” 2
He sees
** sincerity and truth -or- duplicity, falseness, deception MirWeb
Sincerity references in one link or: Acts 2:46, 1 Corinthians 5:8, 2 Corinthians 1:12, 2 Corinthians 2:17, 2 Corinthians 8:8, Ephesians 6:5, Colossians 3:22.
“If I pray to Jesus, but fail to make His ways – my ways, then how true was my “confession” and my promise to follow Him?
How sincere was my “repentance”? How true? How sincere? I’d say: not at all! It’s not honest, not sincere – at all.”
– Source: Sincerity and truth
He sees
** the truly repentant –or– the obvious signs of an unrepentant heart.
See: 8 Steps for Real Repentance from Psalm 51 | by
He sees
** the godly sorrow that leads to repentance and salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10) –or– the worldly, hopeless sorrow that produces death
10 For [godly] sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but worldly sorrow [the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe] produces death.
– 2 Corinthians 7:10
He sees
** the humble yielding spirit -or- the chutzpah of an arrogant soul
Jesus saves instantly (or not at all). No delays. He did not wait till I had “endured to the end” as proof I was going to stay faithful. See all 5 references in one link, or each alone: Hebrews 12:2, Hebrews 12:3, James 5:11, Matthew 10:22, Mark 13:13, Revelation 2:3.
I’ve been redeemed
I was saved by faith in Jesus alone. I repented – as God is asking all of us to do.
Excerpt from This is Salvation in Christ:
It’s a very simple message from God, actually – what He expects of us. His message is to all of us — us sinful, willful, rebellious, self-centered creatures:
…He commands all people everywhere
to repent
[that is, to change their old way of thinking,
to regret their past sins, and
to seek God’s purpose for their lives],
31 because He has set a day
when He will judge the inhabited world
in righteousness
by a Man whom He has appointed
and destined for that task, and
He has provided credible proof
to everyone
by raising Him from the dead.”
– Acts 17:30-31 AMP version
God is asking you and me to repent. (See: 1 Corinthians 1:17-25.)

Excerpt from A God Damn:
The Santa Claus god
“…many today want a belly laughing “ho ho ho”, roly-poly Santa Claus god. This modern day god:
has no predilections, no predispositions, and never gets upset with anything we do or ask for. This god goes with the flow. This god of ours accepts it all, whatever we want. He has no bias, no prejudice against anything. He has no fixed, predetermined intolerances. What you are, whatever – he’s down with that! This “Claus God” has been created for our convenience.
We fool ourselves so easily. Anything we kind of like, or really like, or really really are into… is fine with our “Claus God”. It’s easy to follow this “god”. Claus has no limits on us!
The Bible teaches about a holy God, not a Santa Claus god. Not a fabricated, conjured-up imaginary figure we might want to relate to on our own terms – but the real, actual Holy God of the Heavens, the One and Only Creator God who made all that exists anywhere — He who still is in control.
In terms we can somewhat grasp, God shares with us in the Bible what He is truly like. And our modern day culture just really hates that. Do you see that?

Let me be plain: I have come to the conclusion that no one ever lived the Christian life “in general,” or by faith in the abstract. No one ever laid hold of the benefits in Christ except by believing Him in this present moment.
This is strenuous and conscious and constant believing. The kingdom of God comes and “the violent take it by force [“as a precious prize”]“ AMP version (Matthew 11: verse 12). They sue for grace. They say, like Jacob, “I won’t let you go until you bless me.” They ransack God’s Word for promises.
They believe them like a 5-year-old and not like a sophisticate. They prefer the plain meaning to the obscurantist theology of unbelief. They call forth what’s theirs in Christ without double-mindedness.

God’s Work of Salvation
God’s work of salvation was done by Jesus when He came down to earth: when He became the Godman, when He died on the cross, when He was buried, when He arose from the tomb, when He ascended back up into Heaven.
From the beginning of time, He wants all of us to be saved. And now HE is saving people from Hell — in that very moment when they first believe.

To accept anything less than “all that Jesus Christ is and does“… is to stop short of getting saved. God requires all, not just pieces of us. Are you holding-back on God? Or: Are you 100% sold-out to the true Jesus? 4
There are an awful lot of people who supposedly accepted Christ as Savior, or are into one sect or another, and think they are “saved”, but they are actually on a broad road that says heaven but goes to hell. Don’t get to walkin’ that road.
