The Privilege of My Existence
We are wonderfully privileged to live in a wonderful era of hope under God, an era of grace, love and forgiveness. The Old Testament era was a very different era. God was there too – but daily sacrifices were required of God for His forgiveness.
But now, ever since that incredibly special day when Jesus the Messiah died as the perfect Lamb of God John 1:29, there has been no more need to sacrifice for sins. Jesus was the last sacrifice. That was enough to cover eternity.
A new era began with His Resurrection. Those who follow Jesus do not make animal sacrifices. We do not stone disobedient sinnners. We do not look to the Judaic Law. With those around us we share the love and grace of Jesus. And we share His New Covenant. Quite different from way back when.
Jesus modeled how we should live nowadays. He did not go around hating, condemning, raging. He said,
John 3:17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

Be known by your love
He admonished us to love others, not condemn them because of the way they live rejecting Jesus. Pray for their salvation.
Condemning comes later. Soon. And He will do the damning. With His Second Coming – He Himself will accomplish that. Not my mission in life.
He said our mission as His followers is to be known by our love:
John 13:34-35 I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”
Moses was given tablets of stone on which was written His Law. Moses said,
Deuteronomy 9:9 “When I went up the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord made with you, I remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I did not eat food or drink water.”
That was Old Testament, and it is still God’s Word to us, but Jesus fulfilled that old covenant. He fulfilled the old covenant promises of salvation by His ministry on earth as the Godman. The Old Testament divine mysteries were revealed (opened up for our understanding) –by the Godman Jesus.
Instead of writing His commandments on tablets of stone, His new Message is now written on tablets of human hearts (2 Corinthians 3:3). On our hearts!
It was with His sacrifice on our behalf that He initiated a New Covenant built upon grace and love – – and forgiveness in His Name. See this explained by Paul here: 2 Corinthians 3:1-18. Jesus said,
“This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood.” (Luke 22:20)
Other New Covenant verses:
2 Corinthians 3:3
You show that you are a letter from Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Luke 22:20
20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood.
John 13:35
By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”
John 8:10-11 *This is the account of the Adulterous Woman, here in John 8:1-12.
10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.”

I like Paul’s message in this version of 1 Corinthians 13:5-7 The Message.
“So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
or “Keeps no record of wrong” (another version).
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.”
– 1 Corinthians 13:5-7 The Message

The well-guarded soul Excerpt: How I “do life”
“…life here is not a simple walk through the park, through a Garden of Eden. Never has been since the apple of Eve, the Fall of man Genesis 3.
I must guard my heart. I must guard my willfulness. I must guard against the sins that easily beset me. I must guard against the desire of my heart. I must guard my steps. I must be watchful over how I “do life” (Ephesians 4:17-32). Or righteousness will be quite sporadic, a distant ideal, pie-in-the-sky by-and-by.
I want to be a more righteous man – now. (I refuse to wait until I get to Heaven.) So I guard my soul. I celebrate victories, and I settle failures quickly. (Well, I aim to anyway.)”

To accept anything less than “all that Jesus Christ is and does“… is to stop short of getting saved. God requires all, not just pieces of us. Are you holding-back on God? Or: Are you 100% sold-out to the true Jesus?
There are an awful lot of people who supposedly accepted Christ as Savior, or are into one sect or another, and think they are “saved”, but they are actually on a broad road that says heaven but goes to hell. Don’t get to walkin’ that road.
