*This article, What Jesus Taught, is based on an article by Brendon Powell: Which Jesus do you serve?
Would Jesus have suffered and died on a cross – if He did not love us, His created ones? Through His life and death Jesus taught us so much.
Jesus taught that we need salvation: (We need it. It’s not optional.)
Jesus said: without Him you are already condemned, legally responsible before His Courts:
“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
– John 3:18.
Jesus said: fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell.
“Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
– Matthew 10:28.
Jesus said: the gate is narrow and the way is difficult and few find it.
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
– Matthew 7:13-14.
Jesus taught that He is God, come to earth in the flesh of a man:
Jesus said: I came to save the world:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
– John 3:16.
Jesus said: I am the only Way to Creator God:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. – John 14:6.
Jesus said: I am the light of the world:
“I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
– John 8:12.

Jesus taught an extreme faith: (See: James 2:14-26)
Deny yourself. Follow Me. Only those who actually follow Him are saved:
He said, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
– Luke 9:23-25.
Forsake all you have. Putting God after anything equals phony faith:
“So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
– Luke 14:33.
Love God and Your neighbor. Love is central to following Christ:
“And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ “This is the great and foremost commandment. “The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ “On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
– Matthew 22:37-39.
Love God More. He said if we love anyone more than Him we are not worthy of Him:
“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. “He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.
–Matthew 10:37-39.
Don’t love this life. He said if you love this life you’ll lose it:
“He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
– John 12:25-26.
Do not serve money. He said you cannot serve God and money:
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
– Matthew 6:24.
War against sin. He said be extreme in your war against sin:
“If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. “If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than 1 to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.
– Matthew 18:8-9.
Endure to the end. He said if you endure to the end, you’ll be saved:
“You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
– Matthew 10:22.
Jesus taught with a warning against faking it and thus loosing your soul:
Fake “christians” are damned. He said those who falsely claim to be “Christian” – but practice sin – will be cast into hell on That Day:
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’
23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
– Matthew 7:21-23.
Jesus saves us from the righteous wrath of Holy God. For us who receive and follow Him, His death provides a legally binding forgiveness within God’s legal system.
Turn to Jesus and you will be eternally saved. Jesus saved me – and He wants to save you.

Do you know Jesus and what He taught? It is important to know in order to actually follow Him with all your heart. It is too easy to contradict Him… and begin to be against Him. Where are you at?
