There is nothing significant about a speck of dust or a vapor. In the same way – there is nothing significant about any human on earth, in the natural.
1 Peter 1:24-25 NASB
24 For, “All flesh is like grass,
And all its glory
is like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
And the flower falls off,
25 But the word of the Lord
endures forever.”
Ecclesiastes 1
The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher. “Vanity of vanities!
All [that is done without God’s guidance] is vanity [futile, meaningless—a wisp of smoke, a vapor that vanishes, merely chasing the wind].” What advantage does man have from all his work Which he does under the sun (while earthbound)? …
Humans… the unborn-again (only born once)
When you look at it through eternity’s expansiveness, we don’t have a significant life span as mere mortals. Truly infinitesimal.
Some like to ignore that reality, but, as they say, “You can’t take it with you.” Don’t fool yourself. Life is brief. Very insignificant as-is.
Job 18:16
His roots are dried below, And his branch withers above.
Psalm 90:6
In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew;
Toward evening it wilts and withers away.
Psalm 90:10
As for the days of our [a]life, [b]they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, eighty years,
Yet their pride is only trouble and tragedy;
For it quickly passes, and we disappear.
Psalm 129:6
May they be like grass upon the housetops,
Which withers before it grows up;
Isaiah 1:30
For you will be like an oak whose leaf withers away,
Or like a garden that has no water.
Hosea 13:3
Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.
James 4:14
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.
For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while,
and then vanishes away.
Humans… in the natural, without salvation through Jesus
What we need is Almighty God to come down to us – and give us significance. “Without God’s guidance“, without Jesus the Godman – we are simply cogs in the works (“a tooth on the rim of a wheel or gear” –MWebster), not of significance. In the natural we are but specks of dust in the wide, wide universe, lost souls destined for an eternity without anything good, whatsoever.
There will be no good where you are bound for. Nada. Nothing. Not anything good is in your future in “the afterlife”… without salvation in Jesus. Unless you’ve been redeemed by The Redeemer, the “afterlife” is “living-death forever”.
Jesus gives us significance
Jesus created each and everyone of us. He loves each and everyone of us. In fact He came to earth to die — for each and everyone of us. He makes us significant.
Jesus said, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” – John 14:6
Jesus “gives out” eternal life certification, (so to speak!) Jesus gives eternal life. He said,
Know anyone can do that?
So, what does it take? What is necessary to inherit everlasting life in Heaven?
The fountain of the water of life
It is Jesus the Christ (the Messiah) who said, “I am the water of life.” He said,
I am the Alpha
and the Omega,
the Beginning
and the End.
the fountain of the water of life
Humans… born again
“You must be born again.” (John 3:1-18) One birth, and you stay that way forever: damned all to Hell. Born again through Jesus, and you are reborn from above, given eternal life. And that eternity starts at that exact moment in time when you repent and give Him all of you: all your heart….
And he replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” – Luke 10:27
