God touches us and we are reborn from above
I love this “salvation affirming” passage in the tiny book of 1 John. How very reassuring.
These things I have written
to you
who believe
in the name of the Son of God,
so that you may know
that you have eternal life.
– 1 John 5:13
_________
Get down, get saved,
and you can
“know that you know you know”
that you are
ready for Heaven (1 John 5:13).
– Source: Know that you know you know
That moment in time
Because of Scripture, we are not wondering if we are saved, we are not working at it, we are not in doubt about it, hoping we will maybe eventually be saved if we reach that day successfully. No – we can know. Now! God reassures us. We hear it in chapter 5 and in chapter 2.
Looking closely at this verse here in chapter two, 1 John 2:19 KJV, we can see another defining affirmation of salvation. There is no doubt here in this passage: “they would no doubt have continued” KJV.
There are some who outside the faith. Are you “of us” or, “out“?
AMP version: 19 They went out from us [seeming at first to be Christians], but they were not really of us [because they were not truly born again and spiritually transformed]; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out [teaching false doctrine], so that it would be clearly shown that none of them are of us.
– 1 John 2:19 AMP
There is no doubt you will continue, Scripture tells us, if you were truely saved in that moment in time when you made a confession of faith, giving your life to Jesus. However, the question of IF is raised.
The Moment of If
Writing about our salvation by God, the Apostle Paul brings us back to our moment of “if”. He brings it back to the moment of our salvation experience, saying “…if…”:
– Romans 6:4-7 “5 For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection.”
– Colossians 3:1-4 NASB Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 [a]Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
He sows that seed of doubt, questioning each of us:
* If we have become one with Him [permanently united]
* If you have been raised with Christ
And then He answers our doubts as we examine our self. We can know we are saved. It is God’s will that we be saved. And, so far, today Jesus continues saying, “Whosoever will may come.”

___________
So we must be very very very careful to examine ourselves. “see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers” (2 Corinthians 13:5). Are you? Or are you caught up practicing sin?
Scripture urges us: Do not presume, assume, nor take it for granted…. After all, who wants to have been anticipating a glorious welcome, and finally arrive… to Judgement?
Your disappointment is scheduled
Yes, our salvation is secure in Christ who secures us. But, to the contrary, if you leave the faith 1 John 2:19, there is no doubt about this: you were never saved in the first place. You didn’t “lose it“. You never had it! Yikes!
“…if they had been
of us,
they would
no doubt
have continued
with us….”
– 1 John 2:19 KJV
_______
There is no doubt that a truly born again Christian is saved and …will continue on in the faith, saved. That is what 1 John 2:19 tells us. I have no fear of that.
Confession not accepted
But don’t just believe your thinking: look at what Scripture itself teaches. It is in Scripture that we see: truly there are the ones whose confession was not accepted by God. They are those who merely called themselves saved but actually were not.
To those, God basically has said:
Confession not accepted.
Scripture says – – they will leave the faith of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. They were “in it” as mere practitioners (as Hebrews 6:1-8 teaches) not actually “of us” 1 John 2:19, not “in Christ” , not born again.
About being a child of God.
Excerpt from: This is who we are in Christ
Revelation 12 describes who we are if we are a child of God:
17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went off to wage war on the rest of her children (seed), those who keep and obey the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus [holding firmly to it and bearing witness to Him].
– Revelation 12:17
Who we are
We see here that we, “the rest of her children” are “those who keep and obey the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus [holding firmly to it and bearing witness to Him].”
Our life imitates His
Real Christians “keep and obey…” Revelation 12:17 We have a creed. We follow the example of Jesus. Our life imitates His – not in the sense of wearing robes and sandals, but in the sense of being like Jesus.

Old Sarge Comments on Charismatic practices Excerpts:
“The excesses and errors of the modern movement is what keeps people from being saved and the cautious from exploring the gifts of the Spirit.”
“John said to try every spirit and Paul said people would be given over to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils so discernment in these last days is not hate, but seeking truth. Truth will call out heresy and extremism that will cause the enemies of God to blaspheme.”
“There is no biblical basis for gold dust, “alien jewels”, gold teeth, spiritual rain and orbs in Scripture.”
“Nowhere in Acts does it say people who were saved, baptized in the Spirit and spoke in tongues did crazy things. No one convulsed or twitched for hours or as one lady is still shaking long after her revival. That is more consistent with people who have been involved in Kundalini spiritism or even Tourette’s syndrome than being filled with the Spirit.”
“Scripture speaks of laying hands on people. but not pushing or slapping or kicking them down. No waves of people fainting as Paul or anyone else waved their hands and Paul or the others did not release the Spirit.”
“The Spirit fell while Peter was still giving his testimony and no one taught them how to speak in tongues. It just happened. The Spirit releases Himself. He needs no help or signal from any man.”
______
Scripture is clear… Scriptures about what you “practice”
1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth;
1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness [ignoring God’s law by action or neglect or by tolerating wrongdoing—being unrestrained by His commands and His will].
1 John 3:6 No one who abides in Him [who remains united in fellowship with Him—deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin. No one who habitually sins has seen Him or known Him.

Called by Jesus to be forever on a higher level Excerpt: Salvation in Christ is a huge wonder. It’s a calling to be an actual child of God (not merely a puny human “creation” of His). It’s a calling to live with Him forever in His Home Heaven. Oh happy day!
Personal rules of practice Excerpt: We all hate rules. I grew up thinking they were all so …onerous and unnecessary. So limiting!
Well-thought-through rules
Well-thought-through rules, however, can be our personal checklist for living the way we really want to live, instead of falling for traps along the way. After all, what we want is what is desirable and right. We can more easily avoid missteps along the way if we take time to inspect our ways and aim to live sensibly.
Our final check-in to Heaven for “a full and perfect reward”
One thing you lack is found in Mark 10:21, Luke 18:22, Matthew 19:21. Read these in one link.
Mark 10:21
Looking at him, Jesus felt a love (high regard, compassion) for him, and He said to him, “You lack one thing: go and sell all your property and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have [abundant] treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].”
Luke 18:22
When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “You still lack one thing; sell everything that you have and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have [abundant] treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].”
Matthew 19:21
“If you wish to be perfect [that is, have the spiritual maturity that accompanies godly character with no moral or ethical deficiencies], go and sell what you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven;
and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].”

Excellent article. Rosario demonstrates the power of the Gospel. Without repentance there is no real faith and without real faith there is no conversion and without converversion there is no new creation and without new creation there is no salvation and without salvation there is no hope.

What God does to prepare you for Heaven Excerpt:
What God did to each of us
Because sin separates us from Holy God, God Himself had to do something to remedy our “no-win” existence. God condemned us all to Hell because of sin. Yet because He loved us so much, He then provided a way to forgive us of all our sin (John 3:16-17) and make us ready for Heaven.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Without a holy intervention by God, we are all God Damned. That is why God came down to earth – essentially: to intervene on our behalf… to undamn us. So you are still damned, unless you’ve been undamned through Jesus.
