Interesting how Jesus would teach so much with so few words.
27 Now while Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed (happy, favored by God) is the womb that gave birth to You and the breasts at which You nursed!”
28 But He said, “On the contrary, blessed (happy, favored by God) are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it.” – Luke 11:27-28
Jesus was saying (v28, and explained it more later) that: the ones who will be blessed throughout eternity – are “those who hear the word of God and continually observe it.”
Over the course of hundreds of years, God inspired men of God to write what would eventually contain God’s comunication to the world. And Jesus said – if you accept what I have said to you (through the Bible), and and if you follow what I have revealed to you (to all of us), then you will be “favored by God”.
John 3:16 puts it this way:
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.
The message of God to us His creation is that Jesus came down to earth from His throne in heaven in order to satisfy God’s justice. Our sinful rebellion against His ways has put us under judgement by God. And only a sinless replacement could allow God to save us from His condemnation.
Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Only He can save. Are you one of these?
“…whoever believes and trusts in Him…“
