Why might many, many charismatics not be saved? You? Let’s look at some reasons, with a focus on Matthew 7:21-23.
This is not an article to denigrate “Charismatics”. This is a resource for all of us to learn exactly what the Bible says about charismatic practices. We are to study the Bible (2 Timothy 2:15) so we can be “accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.”

Introduction
Jesus will reject many “Christians
Jesus Himself said many that come to Him in the end times will be rejected. This is not expected! These are so-called Christians.
The unSaved
By logic that means that for a lot of reasons many pew-sitters in churches are not saved. They are not real Christians, but merely those who come to “fill the pews” in churches. They are part of the unsaved flock, the goats.
The faithful sheep of Jesus’ flock step in through Heaven’s Gate, but the rebellious goats… are thrown b-b-bleating into eternal existence without anything good. See: 2 Peter 3: verse 16
Two places to die for:
Sheep walk into Heaven’s Graceland with Jesus
See: Windows into Heaven
Goats are thrown to their own destruction (Matthew 25:30-46)
See: There is a place
– Source: After that moment of passing
Some are just clueless, I imagine. Others are lifetime fakers. Many reasons. Many sorrows. Much grief.
What’s scary is: they don’t know it. They think they are the faithful sheep of Jesus’ flock. But they were never saved. (I write more about this down below).
Each unfaithful is “the tare” in the parable Jesus gave us. They are the unsaved. Tares grow side by side with the faithful, the wheat.
Which one are you? Are you a tare?
What is one of the biggest reasons why a so-called “Christian” is not actually saved? Well, first of all, obviously — Jesus warned about it!
In Matthew 7, Jesus warns us about how He will personally reject many in the end times. He will have to tell many who come to Him in Jesus name: “Depart from Me.”
Getting rejected?
I find this fascinating: These who Jesus warns about getting rejected? They will have been actively prophesying, busy doing miracles, and busy casting out demons — in the Name of Jesus!
Who does those things? For the most part: Charismatics. Charismatics are characterized by those practices. That’s ominous. This is what Jesus Himself said:
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’
This, directed to those who call themselves “Christian” — is the scariest message spoken by Jesus, ever:
‘I never knew you;
depart from Me
[you are banished from My presence],
you who act wickedly
[disregarding My commands].’
– Verse 23 of Matthew 7:21-23
These who are banished may say, “After a lifetime of ‘serving the Lord’, living for Jesus, acting lovingly to all, repenting of all of my sins… Jesus rejects me!? No way!
See: Will you be turned away by Jesus?
“You who act wickedly”
Jesus defines this group as “You who act wickedly”. It is the person who is “disregarding My commands” that Jesus will reject.
Are you putting aside Jesus’ commands? Is this the “one thing you lack“, as when Jesus talked with the Pharisee? That Pharisee went away as a b-b-bleating goat, not a sheep of my pasture.
Never really saved
They never were really “of us”, says John:
19 They went out from us [seeming at first to be Christians],
but they were not really of us [because they were not truly born again and spiritually transformed];
for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out [teaching false doctrine], so that it would be clearly shown that none of them are of us.
If we “follow Jesus plus some other…” – then we are not truly following Jesus. We are then “seeming at first to be Christians…” but not. This is what true Christians exude from deep inside:
* What Jesus wants to see in me
* We know what Jesus believes. Do you agree with Him?
* Growing into our natural new life in Christ
Salvation only happens if your heart is sincere and truthful and not holding-back. A cracked heart does not submit 100% to Jesus. Got an achy, achy cracked heart?
*For more about “never really saved”, go to section 12: What Charismatics (NAR) are like
The Apostle Paul warned us:
Acts 20:30-31
“even from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse and distorted things, to draw away the disciples after themselves [as their followers].
31 Therefore be continually alert, remembering that for three years, night or day, I did not stop admonishing and advising each one [of you] with tears.”
Also see: Matthew 7:13-23; Luke 13:27; Colossians 2:18
Why the tears, Paul? Because they (the tares) are still damned, still willful, unforgiven, unrepentant, unwilling to bow the knee in obedience to His Way.
They slip slide away into their “made-up” false teachings and those of others. So many “other gospels” that do not save!
Instead of going the right way they went their own way with their own thinking. That is what a cracked heart does. So, so sad. So eternally sad. Don’t go there! Guard your life – and do not attend an apostate church.

2-The ones who Jesus rejects
The ones who Jesus rejects
From these passages we see: The ones who Jesus rejects in Matthew 7:21-23 are the NAR-type church people:
the ones prophesying, doing miracles, busy casting out demons, arising (“men will arise”) and being appointed as charismatic apostles and prophets and teachers, leaders, with some arising as self-appointed apostles, prophets, teachers, and miracle workers – “speaking perverse and distorted things”, with the purpose of luring Christians away from the Truth, to make “disciples after themselves [as their followers]”. – from Acts 20:30-31; Matthew 7:13-23; Luke 13:27; Colossians 2:18
That is happening throughout the NAR movement: those who are into charismatic practices clearly condemned in the Bible.
“…no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of or comes from one’s own [personal or special] interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

Charismatics are NAR-type believers
NAR-type churches totally practice all that is called “charismatic”. Their leaders are apostates.
NAR “associated” churches continue to flourish all over the world. Many people who are part of this charismatic movement don’t even know it’s called the New Apostolic Reformation. In fact, they may not even know they are part of a movement at all. And they may not be fully aware of all the extreme teachings associated with it. Do you know?

This is a key resource in grasping the significance of this global, confusing, and controversial movement.”
A New Apostolic Reformation?: A Biblical Response to a Worldwide Movement, By Holly Pivec and Doug Geivett. Authors introduction:
“This critique provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the widespread but little-known New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. As the authors state in the preface:
“We write this book with two major goals in mind.
First, to give people an idea of the sheer size and reach of the NAR movement.
And second, to systematize its key teachings and practices and evaluate them on the basis of Scripture and careful reasoning
In our judgment, the NAR perspective crosses these boundaries [that is, certain broad parameters, revealed in Scripture and practiced in the historical orthodox church], and it does so in part because of flawed theology rooted in a flawed understanding of Scripture.
We wish to warn readers about a possible confusion: Some critics have linked the NAR movement with mainstream Pentecostalism and charismatics. We do not do this. In fact, it is our contention that the NAR movement deviates from classical Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. This movement has emerged out of independent charismatic churches and, thus, has gained a foothold in many of those churches in varying degrees.”

6- What Charismatics miss
What Charismatics miss
Many church leaders “just don’t get it”. The Bible is God’s standard for church doctrine. Apostles, prophets, pastors, and teachers are subject to what the Bible teaches – both Testaments (OT & NT).
A leader can’t just have an idea, get an inspiration, think-up a convenient change for us, fake a new revelation — and change what God has told us down through the centuries! How dare they! I’m outraged. And God? He is too.
How dare they think their thinking trumps God’s thinking. And yet, they do. Different doctrines, what is called “another gospel”, are not from God. What they miss is that God is the One that has written to us, for us, and His Word never changes. They miss:
Getting down to God’s meaning Excerpt:
I want God’s message – clean and unadulterated. And, because He is all-knowing, He does not change his mind. No word of today can ever change His Word already given. The Bible is solid ground. “All other ground is sinking sand.”
It’s crazy how so many have tried in the past, and are still doing it – “re-interpreting” or discovering some “personal or special” interpretation, attempting to legitimize a new creative way to have it their way. If that is happening in your church – don’t believe it. Just walk away.
– Source: Getting down to God’s meaning.
Your think or His?
“…it is
His Think
that rules the heavens,
not ours”
I’ll dig deep into God’s truths, not at all allowing the teachings of puny little mud men to direct my path. Why would I heed the teachings of mere men, when I have the Message of God?
Why listen to a false teacher?
Teachings of mere men are not God’s words to us. When it comes to God – who wants mere opinions?!
What they miss
is that God is the One
that has written
to us, for us,
and His Word
never changes.
Is the Bible enough?
Does God give new revelations or is the Bible enough? God has given us such clear words of His own to follow and obey. I do not need more supposed “revelations”. The revelations from God in the Bible are enough. How about you?

The problem today in these End Times is that there are so many tares in churches (those who have gone “apostate“) that soon they are accusing the remaining few, those who truly are “in Christ” — as being the divisive ones because they oppose false doctrines and false teachers! Amazing switcheroo.

8- The Damnation of “I am against you”
Damnation of Charismatic Practices in Old Testament
Old Testament passages and Jesus Himself — are very straightforward. God has declared damnation against many Charismatic practices: outright damning those who dare to go against God’s proscriptions. 2
“I am against you”, God says
Before salvation, God was against sinners because of their unrepenting rebellion. In these end days God is against false speakers who claim they speak “God’s words” — when they are merely speaking their own words.

Words of Mere Men Are Not God’s Words
When it comes to God, who wants mere opinions?
Apparently strong temptations plague some who falsely claim visions or dreams or words of God.
“Let no one defraud you of your prize [your freedom in Christ and your salvation] by insisting on mock humility and the worship of angels, going into detail about visions [he claims] he has seen [to justify his authority], puffed up [in conceit] by his unspiritual mind.” – Colossians 2:18
It is an extremely harmful act to claim God’s vision – when in reality it was merely your own. They can “defraud you of your prize” – “…your freedom in Christ and your salvation”.

Delusion is absolutely irrational, stupid and foolish
Are you under a deluding influence?
Deluding Activity of Error Excerpt: It is quite clear, and simple. God is against: falsely claiming visions or dreams or words of God, knowingly faking miracles, faking speaking in tongues, fake “word of faith”, defrauding others (leading them away from the ultimate prize, salvation; mock humility, worship of angels, justifying one’s elevated authority by detailed, fake visions, being conceited and puffed up (self-important, egotistical), maintaining an unspiritual mind.
God said “I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind….” He is doing that today. But YouTube is full of false dreams and false visions. We need to be discerning.
‘And it shall be in the last days,’ says God, ‘That I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see [divinely prompted] visions, And your old men shall dream [divinely prompted] dreams. – Acts 2:17

OMGj editor note: This article by Rick Becker is very spot-on. I highly agree with him. He says: “The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a movement that denies the sufficiency of scripture. It comes as no surprise then, that adherents need extra biblical signs in order to justify their actions, or create the impression that God is guiding or speaking to them through something.” And: “It’s ironic that a movement littered with “prophets” and merchandising teachings on “how to hear the voice of God”, needs omens to guide them.”
