The Dangers of Consorting With Error

January 27, 2023 by Keith Swift Leave a Comment

Consorting with Error
Sometimes discernment is tough for the professing Christian.  Wanting to stay faithful to Jesus is a rough row to hoe. Sometimes life sucks.  And tempting siren songs are rife (1 John 5:19).

Faithlessness often starts
real simple:

“consorting” with the enemy.

It’s chancy to consort, to pal around with bad company. It’s a real battle – to be “in the world but not of the world”.

Jesus ate with those who were not following God. True.

But He went in with strength, and His eyes wide open. He knew their lifestyle was antithetical to His teachings. He was a special “ambassador”, so to speak – ready for anything.  We are to be that, also (2 Corinthians 5:20). Right?

In Christ we fear no evil.  But, we must know our siren songs. Know our weaknesses.  What siren song are you prone to listen to?  Any strong ship can be shipwrecked.  What a disaster to fail like that (Ezekiel 27:25-36).

What have you rejected
and thus
“made a shipwreck of [your] faith”?

“…for some [people]
have rejected
[their moral compass]
and have made
a shipwreck of their faith.
– 1 Timothy 1:19

“Not of this world”
We are “not of this world” (John 8:23, John 15:19, John 18:36, 1 Corinthians 1:20, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 1:12).  So we must use standards that are “not of this world”.  Use Jesus’ standards, not those of the enemies of our soul.

We must follow Jesus, and not get caught up with the errors around us (Ephesians 4:14). Be careful who you follow, what you follow, what you let your heart love.  They can become idols.

Always biblical from my soul

“Be careful how you walk” (Ephesians 5:15-17)
When surrounded by the world, we must be strong in our faith.  Discerning between “good and bad”, “right and wrong”, biblical or not-biblical… is not fast and easy. It demands knowledge of the Bible.

The Bible is the standard for Christian thought. It is profitable for us: 2 Timothy 3:16.

It is what it is: The Bible Is God’s Word To Us

When in doubt as to what is God’s will, we must ask: Is “this” acceptable to Christ or is it not?

God’s way is the narrow way,
the way of Jesus.
– Source: His Due Sentencing

14 But small is the gate
and narrow
and difficult to travel
is the path
that leads the way to
[everlasting] life,
and there are few who find it.
–
Matthew 7:14

“Therefore be careful how you walk,
not as unwise men but as wise…
because the days are evil.
So then do not be foolish,
but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
– Ephesians 5:15-17

When dealing with a belief out there, error is “any belief that is not biblical”.  A Christian does not want to start believing in something that contradicts the Bible, anything “unbiblical”.

Going into error
Any error that is heinous to God is progressive. Error has stages, like Stage 4 Cancer.

Error progresses: from (1) where it looks good, (2) where it gets ugly, (3) where death is imminent, (4) where you reach death, and then you reach Hell. And then Hell is Home forever.

When you associate with, or actively listen to error, and, or, attend events teaching error, then you open yourself up to adopting error.  If we are truly “not of this world” — then we must be like a wise spy in a foreign world.

We are not afraid of knowledge.  I say “bring it on”.  Truth is of God.  God is Truth.  So, knowledge? We can handle any of it.  But gaining the knowledge must benefit us somehow, be profitable, or else, well — then it’s not worth getting into (“all things”: 1 Corinthians 10:23, Colossians 1:9, 1 Corinthians 10:33, Romans 14:20, Titus 1:15, 1 John 2:16) and maybe we’d best leave it alone.

Birds, rocks, soil, sun, scorching, no root, withered, thorns, choked, no yield… Mark 4:2-20
When dealing personally with erroneous thinking (evil, the mind of this world, the things of this world, apostate teachings), you must have sufficient “counter intelligence” to counter the error with truth.

Or possibly, if your faith and your thinking is weak, the unbiblical belief may win-you-over, and your faith is lost, as explained by the parable of the sower and seed, Mark 4:2-20, in verses 4-7.

4 and as he was sowing, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Other seed fell on rocks where there was not much soil; and immediately a plant sprang up [a]because the soil had no depth. 6 And when the sun came up, the plant was scorched; and because it had no root, it dried up and withered away. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no grain.

Insufficient Bible knowledge
If you have insufficient Bible knowledge to defend your faith (1 Peter 3:15), then you are very likely to be bamboozled, tricked, persuaded and won-over to “another gospel”.  Many other ways (“mere opinions of puny humans“) seem so good, but they are “in error” according to God’s Word.

Are you going to follow ‘pinions all the way to Hell?! The broad road is not biblical. What they expound upon and propose for you to accept?  They are all in conflict with Jesus’ teachings.

And if a belief is not supported by the Bible, then that belief must be acknowledged as such, branded as… error, as false teaching.

Follow Jesus’ teachings
False teaching is anathema to God
. Why would a Christian (“a little Christ”… a follower of Jesus) want to adopt anything that Jesus Himself would not accept? Makes sense, right?
I want to follow Jesus’ teachings, His Way, not my own ways, nor the ways of somebody who is living with error.

Would you continue attending a church who’s board and/or pastor was meeting with Muslims to form an alliance with their Muslim faith?  Of course not!  We must not conform to the world.

This has already happened…on September 15th, 2022

PIC: “Chrislam” is officially established as THE Official One World Religion, as Catholic Pope Francis partners with forces of Darkness in the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, on September 15th, 2022 in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. Photo credit: press center of the congress.
See: – More affirmation that this is real news.

Let’s draw the line firmly: Is your church the Pope’s church?

Christian faith is diametrically different from the Muslim faith. Each exist at opposite extremes, completely opposed to the other. They are in direct and unequivocal opposition to the other’s system of belief. The same with Jesus and all the other beliefs of the world.

Jesus is against the One World Religion.  Are you?  Or are you “consorting with the enemy” – like the Pope?

Adulterating Christ’s message
If Jesus is against it, then Jesus and “that”, (whatever “that” is in your life… that “other gospel”) — are in polar positions. Don’t get frozen out of Heaven because you rebelliously took some polar position (!).

You are not following Jesus
if you are following…
“that”, whatever “that” is
in your life…
the “other gospel”.

To be faithful to Christ, we cannot mix Jesus plus something.  It’s like mixing water with oil.  That’s a messy mix. There is contradiction and opposition between the two.

You have to adulterate Christ’s message — in order to adopt “another gospel”, for instance: in order to mix Islam with true Christianity.  That’s a messy mix that leads away from Christ.

The same goes for anything in life: To stay true and faithful to Jesus we absolutely must deny that which denies Christ.  And anything that is not biblical — is denying Christ.  Deny Jesus? Want that?

Will you be turned away by Jesus?

I’ve taken a firm grip on the real thing: The Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the one and only from Jesus as shared by those who met Him personally: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul. They share with us what really is the actual salvation in Christ.

The Church Needs A Diagnostic: A Deep Dive Into The Deterioration Of Biblical Authority

– by Calvin Smith – January 10, 2023  | Although there are many battlefronts, and numerous causes we must be fighting for (and against) in these perilous and ungodly times, what the church needs to do is restore the foundation of biblical authority.

Explaining the Basic Christian Experience

Excerpt: Oh the wonder of passing from being “God-damned”  – to being “marvelously saved by Jesus”. We then begin growing into our natural new life in Christ. Oh how marvelous this journey! Ephesians chapter 1 lists “the natural order of things” in our spiritual dimension.

Inexplicable Joy

Heaven is a joyful place. That is hard for me to imagine… Everywhere I look around me, I see so many problems, issues and unresolved conflicts. But in heaven, they won’t exist anymore. There will only be joy because my sins have been paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ.  One of the main things that describes being in heaven is JOY. Letter to Danny

We are continually bombarded by the fiery darts of the Evil One.  And when these little pricks hit us, we need to put-out the flames, quickly. Would God give us erroneous documents and call them “His”? Dumb idea! God brought everything together to form the Bible. God can do anything He decides to do

Long ago “and far away” God decided how things were going to be. Are you down with that? God is asking you to repent and join Him – forever.

Got a Cracked Heart?

Was your “decision” for Christ way long ago made with a “cracked heart”. Have you examined yourself lately (2 Corinthians 13:5)?

Jesus said, “Good answer! Do it and you’ll live.”

“What do I need to do to get eternal life?” He [Jesus] answered, “What’s written in God’s Law?

Take a Stance on Homosexuality – like Jesus did

Anything contrary to God’s expressed will has to be carefully avoided. Homosexuality, for example, is pushed nowadays as “okay by God”.  But actually, it is listed in the Bible right beside many other practices that are not pleasing to God. Temptation towards any sin is NOT sinful. But, if we practice a sin, then we deny Christ. Want to please God in all you do?
