“I never knew you; depart from Me”
This prophetic word from Jesus is recorded by both Matthew and Luke. The context is Matthew 7:15-24 and Luke 13:23-30.
-
And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’
-
but He will say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers!’
__________
Because He was God, the Godman Jesus was able to look into the future. And what He saw is absolutely scary horrifying. Let’s examine what Jesus saw.
Matthew 7:15-24 and Luke 13:23-30.
What Jesus saw
Jesus declares that, towards “the end“, as He put it in Matthew 24:14, some religious people of faith would come to Him all riled-up, saying “Lord, Lord”. This is what Jesus says:
Matthew 7:15-24
verses 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’”
These religious folk call Jesus “Lord, Lord“, so they obviously were so-called “Christians”. But Jesus refutes their claim. He says they were never saved.
He clarifies that salvation is not merely a matter of the words you say. Salvation is for those who accept all of what Jesus is and does, giving our all to Him alone.
Works do not save you. However, getting saved absolutely requires obedience to Him. According to Jesus, any person being granted entrance – into His Kingdom, is:
“…only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” verse 21
These in Matthew 7:15-24 will suddenly find themselves at The Judgement – not in Heaven as they had expected. They are trembling in fear in front of the Judge, not shouting with joy in the presence of the Savior.
Horror of horrors! I can’t imagine. They missed it!
The tragic truth
is the tragic error:
Those who miss believing
as He requires,
…miss salvation.
– Source: God is “faithful and absolutely trustworthy” to you in your salvation
Salvation in Christ requires we follow His words, not follow some other religion. There are specific salvation parameters required by Jesus. But these? They came to Jesus following their own creed Matthew 7:15-24.
Are you really that dull? As Jesus said,
“Are you still so dull
[and unable to
put things together]?”
– Matthew 15:16 AMP
You can’t have it your way. If it is not His Way… then you are on your own. What can you cause to happen…on your own? You are not on your way to Heaven.
Jesus said verses 21: “Not everyone….” Does Jesus speak of you here?
Matthew sets-up this “Lord Lord” passage with a prelude of 6 verses warning about false prophets. The New Testament is full of such warnings. He warns of false prophets, and then speaks of the ‘Lord, Lord’ folk. Connect the dots….
Matthew 7:15-20
15 “Beware of the false prophets, [teachers] who come to you dressed as sheep [appearing gentle and innocent], but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16 By their fruit you will recognize them [that is, by their contrived doctrine and self-focus]. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the unhealthy tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore, by their fruit you will recognize them [as false prophets].

Matthew shares about the ravenous false prophets and how their “fruits” betray the evil doers, and then says:
Matthew 7:21-24 MSG
“…I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying,
‘Master, we preached the Message,
we bashed the demons,
our super-spiritual projects had everyone talking.’
And do you know what I am going to say? ‘You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don’t impress me one bit. You’re out of here.’
Who are the people of faith now practicing those gifts in our present time “End Times”? Connect the dots. It is mainly only NAR-type Charismatics who do what Jesus condemns here, not the rest of Christiandom.
Matthew 7:22 AMP
‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’
They are the ones who NOW are prophecying, driving out demons, and doing miracles…falsely. Jesus says “I never knew you”, so the obvious truth is: Jesus knows they are not doing all those gifts in the Spirit. They are false prophets, false teachers, deviating from Scripture, acting on misinterpretations of Scripture. Apostates.
Habitual Sins are damning
Right in the context of this passage Jesus calls-them-out for these practices. Why? Because it is done falsely. It is no small thing to habitually be “disregarding My commands” Matthew 7:23.
Jesus calls these Wannabe Christians: “you who act wickedly”, and “you evildoers”. And He condemns them to Hell, saying: “depart from Me [you are banished from My presence]” and “I do not know where you are from; depart from Me”.
They refuse to repent. They keep their sin of false practices active. They think their practice is legitimate before God, but such sins show they are “not of God”.
We all must repent, “turn away from”, reject all habitual sins. The NAR habitual disobedience shouts out: We prefer to follow our own imaginations, and make God speak what we want, rather than stay faithful to what is merely in the Bible.
They are wrong, and just don’t get it. Their own prophets foretell what does not actually happen!
I reject the notion that they are special, that their supposed prophecying, and their self-made special words of knowledge come from the Holy Spirit. When you are apostate, the Spirit is not in you, and all your religiosity is apostate.
Matthew 7:20
“Therefore, by their fruit you will recognize them [as false prophets].”

God spoke through prophets and Jesus – the greatest of all Excerpt: What He requires of us
Our ways are not His ways. If they were, Jesus would have asked us what we want. No, He came to earth to show us what He requires of us. He wants all of us to be saved. Jesus, as recorded in the New Testament, put it this way:
Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered him, “…come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].”
The one-off offer of salvation is also found here in Luke 9:23. (Read more about “salvation” here.) This verse explains what it means to actually “Believe in the name of Jesus“:
“If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple],
he must deny himself
[set aside selfish interests],
and take up his cross daily
[expressing a willingness
to endure whatever may come]
and follow Me
[believing in Me,
conforming to My example in living
and, if need be, suffering
or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].

Acting on Misinterpretations of Scripture Excerpt:
The problem with Charismatic Apostates is this: NARers habitually disobey God. Nobody can practice sin, walk in disobedience to God, refuse to repent of what He calls “sin” — “keeping NAR-type sin“… and then be acceptable to God.
Preach about God’s grace — till you’re blue in the face, but it is clear in Scripture that such folk are living in disobedience. Making sin a practice is what lost sinners do. They run with “it” and say, “Its just fine with me”
