So, you tell me. What does God mean with this Scripture? In Matthew 9:13 Jesus said,
“Go and learn what this [Scripture] means:
‘I desire compassion
[for those in distress],
and not [animal] sacrifice,’
to call [to repentance]
the [self-proclaimed] righteous
[who see no need to change],
[those who recognize their sin
and actively seek forgiveness].”

Change is good

You can find peace in Jesus. Jesus cares about you. John 3:10-18 He knows you.
Been there – done that
He was known to hang-out with real people. He sought-out those who bucked the system, “flaunted the rules…”. He hung-out with the not-so-good peoples. And He called for repentance from sin. He is calling you….
Today, you get criticized following that example of Jesus. 1 That didn’t stop Jesus. And following Jesus is still good-to-go for today. This is what He did:
10 Then as Jesus was reclining at the table in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and [a]sinners [including non-observant Jews] came and ate with Him and His disciples.

He saves sinners, no matter who you are. But He requires repentance.

Someone who thinks they are “just fine” the way they are (the folks who Jesus labeled “the [self-proclaimed] righteous)” do not see a need for repenting.
We must think like God thinks. Jesus declared we are all sinners – of one type or another. Those that Jesus calls to Himself are this type of “sinner”:
“those who recognize their sin
and actively seek forgiveness.”

You gotta know
Calling yourself “Christian” does not make you one. Saying you are “saved” does not mean you are no matter how religious you get. You are not saved until you get born again. Jesus taught this.

All Christians are sinners. However, being saved means you are one of “those who recognize their sin and actively seek forgiveness” with Jesus.
They actually get to the Holy Kingdom. The ones who “are ‘just fine’ the way they are”? Their disappointment is scheduled.
