Oh mortal one Micah 6:8
Life is complicated. So many choices to make. We can go good, or we can go bad. Bummer. Why isn’t it simpler?!
We can’t escape it Hebrews 9:27 MSG. Each of us is personally responsible before God our Maker to discern what is good, and what is bad. We can read the Bible so we discern aright MerWeb: correctly, distinguish right from wrong.
Micah 6:8 NASB
8 He has told you, mortal one,
what is good;
And what does
the Lord require of you
But to do justice,
to love [a loyalty] kindness,
And to walk [b circumspectly] humbly
with your God?
The Bible helps us discern between good and evil. And as we yield, then His Spirit empowers us to walk in His Way. Or we walk away.
Walk in the light
For us who follow Jesus, a major goal of life is to walk in the light, and not walk in darkness. Jesus said “I am the Light”, thus declaring He was God [a – BibleGateway note], the One who gives life. He is the One I follow!
Jesus Himself said, (see both verses in one link)
John 8:12
“[a]I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
1 John 1:5
5 This is the message [of God’s promised revelation] which we have heard from Him and now announce to you, that God is Light [He is holy, His message is truthful, He is perfect in righteousness], and in Him there is no darkness at all [no sin, no wickedness, no imperfection].
If we are following Jesus, we follow the One in whom “there is no darkness at all [no sin, no wickedness, no imperfection].” That is why we aim to be righteous, and when we do fail, we turn to Him in repentance, and He restores our fellowship with Himself. He in His power makes our spirit righteous.
1 John 1:7
but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].
Jesus saves eternally…because that’s His Way. Imagine “always”
Since I am truly saved, nothing can separate me from the love of God. – 1 Peter 1:4 Nada. Zilch. All is forgiven forever “because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.”
The way salvation works… “absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.” The Message version puts it this way verse 39:
“None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.”

The [intrinsically] good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart; and the [intrinsically] evil man produces what is wicked and depraved out of the evil [in his heart]; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.
I’m storing good treasure in me, so I can share good treasure with others. Is your life fruit – Agape Love?
King James version of Luke 6:45 says
“for [from] the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
J.B. Phillips New Testament of Luke 6:45 says
“For a man’s words will always express what has been treasured in his heart.”
Amplified version of Luke 6:45 says
“for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.”
Have you stored “good treasure” in your heart through what you practice? When you overflow – what flows out?
Walk in the way everlasting of Jesus, and we can more easily resist the darkness which is against Christ. That darkness is the evil ways of the 3 enemies of our soul: the world, the flesh, and the Devil. Living yeilded to Christ – we are more than victorious over sin.
Good = “of God”
Fight the good fight, and get the good fruit. God made all of creation – all that we see around us, and, actually, all that we do not see (because it is in a dimension outside of our own!) Thus, “good” is:
…anything that is within His standards, anything within His will — whatever is of God.
…anything that is what God made, anything that God set in motion.
